Absurd guy, great center, great tackler, great ball carrier and great and fast wing too. And he's only 22. Eyes on Mirko Spagnolo, Leonardo Marin and Ross Vintcent, another great talents....waithibg for Francois Mey. Italy is producing great talents in this period.

I think the next truly world class Italian is the tight head prop U20 star Gallerini, absolutely monstering his opponents in the U20 6 Nations. Scalabrin also scary but Gallerini is really special.

What I would add is that not only he is an incredible “freakish” ball carrier and defender, but also really clever and technically superb, he is very smart, he reads the game incredibly well, he knows the rules inside out and he does things that honestly we did not see in a long time - if not ever - in the Italian squad, he is not just a “beast”! Monstrous! :)))

I think with Italy great U20s is tied to the collaboration With Italian Football to create career pathways in the school system and to make it the Two main sports of Italy. which started some in the late 2010s? Some of those kids in high school in 2018 are probably tearing it up now in the U20s maybe even the National team.

Good point but I don't think it's the case, our athletes (even in the most succesfull sports) are more built in the private clubs than that in schools. It simply seems that finally we are able to not only produce younger talents but also direct them correctly to the senior stages

  • @user-hq9lf4hy2l

When he's playing with Brex, the numbers on the shirts are fairly meaningless. Menoncello will defend at 12 because it's better to use Brex's ability to read the opposition attack from that channel, but in attack Brex will generally be first or second receiver, with Menoncello wider (the Allan try vs England being a pretty textbook example of how they operate). Menoncello himself thinks his best position is outside centre, and that's where he'll end up once he's no longer playing with Brex (by the time of the 2027 world cup the 12 position will probably be Marin or Mori).
