Where did you stay overnight in Fara San Martino? I am really really enjoying your videos! We are planning a trip to Italy in 2023. And want to see Calabria, Abruzzo and maybe Sicily.

Hi, Glad you like the videos! We know that they’re not for everyone but hope they help people think about their trips. We stayed at the Residence La Piazzetta in Fara San Martino. We have stayed there twice and really like it. The rooms are big and have kitchenettes and most have balconies with an amazing view. They are pretty inexpensive as well. Fara is in a good central location to get to other places in Abruzzo. It has a small older part of town that is pretty to walk around and the Gole di San Martino and monastery is a great place to hike to. One drawback is that while there is a cafe to get coffee and pastries in the morning, there is only one or two restaurants to eat a dinner at in town (and they were closed when we were there). But there are lots of towns within easy driving distance to grab a dinner (and a grocery store in town if you want to make your own). I am working on a video with towns we visited in Abruzzo that I hope to finish this week. (I am not a quick video maker…). Next will be one on places we’ve visited in Sicily. We have been there twice and absolutely love it there. Let me know if you want anything else!

It took us about 3.5 hours, but we took some side roads to explore. It should take less time if you stay on bigger roads. The website rome2rio is a good way to look at transport options.
