Italian is a Romance language spoken by about 85 million people (2022). Italian is an official language in Italy, Switzerland (Ticino and the Grisons), San Marino, and Vatican City. It has an official minority status in western Istria (Croatia and Slovenia).
Sardinian is a Romance language spoken by the Sardinians on the Western Mediterranean island of Sardinia. Many Romance linguists consider it the language that is closest to Latin among all its genealogical descendants.
If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.
Submit your recordings to otipeps24@gmail.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

As you mentioned in this video, Sardinian is the most conservative surviving romance language.
Sardinian sounds so beautiful
We also use the article "sa" in catalan language spoken in Balearic Islands.
So cool to see "my" languages shown here!! Greetings from Sardinia🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Sardinian is certainly a very interesting language. Italian- American linguist, Mario Pei, analyzed the degree of difference between Sardinian and Latin as being 8%. In addition, Sardinian also has elements of Byzantine Greek, Catalan, Spanish and Italian. Truly fascinating! 😊🇮🇹🇨🇦
Sardinian sounds like a hybrid of Romanian and Portuguese.
Great work Andy as usual! Just a little thing, about the map the dialects on Sardinia should be swapped because nuorese (from Nuoro city) is on the right (east) and logudorese on west side ☺️ Greetings from Roma
Fun fact: the months are very different compared to others languages: gennàrgiu, friaxu, martzu, abrili, maju, lampadas, triulas, austu, cabudanni, ladàmini (santuaine), donniassanti (sant'andria), Idas (nadale)
How would an English speaker learn this language? Sardinian is such a beautiful language
Τhe articles of sardinian are similar to that of the balearic variant of catalan. Coincidence?

Probably not, they are not very far away from each other. Also 'grogu' for 'yellow' is obviously related to Catalan 'groc' more than to Italian 'giallo'.

Different evolution from the other romance languages, articles derived from ipse, ipsa, ipsum, instead from ille, illa, illud, Sardinian language is documented like this since XI century.

Hemos hecho la misma dominación. De verdad es la mayoría aragonés, pero hay influencias catalana de Alghero.
Ciao fratelli dall'Italia, la lingua sarda mi ricorda il rumeno.
I'm early... Wow.. Also it's surprising to know there are languages similar to others!
Another great video.
I love your videos Andy 😁
A couple of times the channel released a video about the dialects of the English language. Will there be a video about the dialects of Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Ruthenian?

As for the Ukrainian dialects, there's a channel named ideyaolexandrivna - the author from time to time posts a new video about them. Till now she has Boyko, Hutsul, Middle-Dnipro, and Slobozhanskiy dialects. Of course, a lot of still needs to be done, but as a good start...

Sardinian language it's documented since XI century, and it was already like this, over three centuries before the Aragonese with Catalan language arrived in Sardinia.
Sardinian is not part of "italo-romance" languages but of South romance isolated, it's unique like romanian
could you please add back greenlaandic, meadow mari, sranan tongo and provencal languages please thank you
This is sardinian logudorese, in the north of Sardinia In the south instead there is the campidanese, which sounds somehow very different
Dapoi si dice "a pustis", italianismo.. Pius dovrebbe essere prus, quella parte era un baronese, un po' influenzata dal corso
@sard-anonimus2818
Жыл бұрын
The Sardinian speaker at the beginning of the audio sounds hungover or like he’d rather be doing something else.
I'm italian 😃

Trovi comprensibile il sardo?
you inverted Logudorese (why Logudorian?) with Nuorese in the first map.
It sounds like Catalan for me

It is like comparision between italian and african(tunisian romance language). Where are the man who spoke sardinian come from?
they're not very similar, infact sardinian is closer to Latin than Italian.

Is true but Italian is 92 close to latin , Sardinia 93% but Sardinia have too much local words and Italian have too much romance words, ( provenzal) with ecclesiastical pronunciation,
