    @@99problemi i would like to add some info here. I am not sure if its a rule, but if you see a word with ire form count backwards to see if the fifth alphabet is a vowel. In those cases we can use the isco form. Now i am myself learning italain so i am not sure but please let me know. An example would be, finire - the fifth alphabet counted backwards is i which is vowel and hence the isco form, similar would be the case with capire, the fifth alphabet from back would be a and hence isco form unlike the case of partire where the fifth word from back is r and hence general form. Thanks.

    Hi there, it's me again :D Could you help me to distinguish "the Gerund" from the "Present tense". Take "mangio" for example, it could mean "i eat" or "I am eating", when should I use "sto mangiando"

  • @99problemi

    @99problemi

    7 жыл бұрын

    While both of the forms you mention mean "I am eating", they have nuances of meaning. You use 'mangio' when you want to say 'I eat' (in general) or "I'm eating" (now). 'Sto mangiando' is in the present progressive and emphasizes the fact that the subject is doing the action at that very moment -- I'm eating (at this very moment.)

    oh my, this is giving me headaches :( So If I want to say something like "My friend is studying abroad right now", is it right to use the present tense instead of the Gerund

  • @99problemi

    @99problemi

    7 жыл бұрын

    For that sentence I would use the present tense: "Il mio amico studia all'estero adesso." I think the present progressive is best used to emphasize actions that are taking place right now, for example "Giovanni sta leggendo" (at this very moment).

  • @99problemi

    @99problemi

    It depends on the verb. Unfortunately, there is no way to know by looking at the infinitive. Often you have to look up the verb on a conjugation chart if you aren't familiar with it. You can try the verb both ways, with or without the -isc-. Sometimes the verb sounds better one way over the other. If I say prefero vs preferisco, I know that prefero is incorrect because it doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard.

  • @99problemi

    Subject pronouns are used in Italian only to show emphasis (Sono andato al cinema, ma lui è andato a teatro.) or clear up situations where the subject is unclear. Otherwise, they aren't used. Most of the time you know who the subject is based on the end of the verb.

  • @99problemi

    @99problemi

    4 жыл бұрын

    Preferire, like many other ire verbs, adds the isc infix. There is no reason other than convention (this is just how it is done) that this is added. I wish there were a reason for this, but like so many aspects of languages there simply isn't a logical rule.

    Most everything you say is too low to hear. Play this back and listen. you keep dipping down your voice. You have a nice voice--for sure, but what you're saying IDK, so i'm not learning any words.

    Shouldn't the third person pronouns be the following? -Egli (masculine singular) -Ella (feminine singular) -Elli (masculine plural) -Elle (feminine plural) Loro is actually genitive plural, while Lui and Lei are singular object pronouns. Noi and Voi are fine, but their object forms should be Nos and Vos.
