Can an e and the end of the word be both masculine and feminine? And how do you determine if it ends with an e if it's masculine or feminine. For example verdure is that masculine or feminine?

When a word ends in 'e' it can be either singular masculine or singular / plural feminine. You can often look to the article to tell you the gender of the word (il cane -- masc. because of the il / la classe fem. because of the la). A word ending in -e can also be feminine plural, like le mele or le amiche.

Certo ... università è un nome invariabile. Questo vuol dire che non cambia al plurale. Ci sono tanti nomi di questo tipo in italiano. Tutti i nomi che terminano con -à (a accentata) non cambiano: la città => le città, l'università => le università, e così via.

I am Sicilian and I have been wondering for so long why the Italian Language invented 7 different articles when other languages have 2 like Englisch or 3 like German.

Why does La classe become Le classi?

La classe belongs to the class of nouns that have two terminations. These nouns are either masculine or feminine (you look to the article to tell you which) and end in -e in the singular and -i when plural. Le classi is feminine plural. There is no y in the Italian alphabet

True ... there is no y in the Italian alphabet. However, y is part of the "lettere straniere": k, j, w, x, y. Many words from other languages are in common usage in Italian and they don't change from their original spelling. Some examples are: lo yoga, lo yogurt, lo yacht, il jolly, etc.

@@mao5869 The guy of the video himself admits his is not the right pronunciation of the GLI sound. It is a palatal sound, so it can't surely be YEE.
