ITALIAN EASTER BREAD RECIPE..with my Nonna’s two special ingredients!

This recipe came over from Italy with my Nonna. It always tasted different than what I had from a bakery, and I found out there were two unique ingredients! Watch and see what they are! It's the best Easter Bread I've ever had!

Thank you for sharing your recipe. I thought my family was the only one's that used anise extra, even the same measurement 2/3 of the bottle! Next time I make it I will try your way with the liquor . Jackie

I really love the anise flavor! Just use about 2 teaspoons of liquor..the shot class was too much (it was in her original recipe that made about 5 Easter breads!) So I scaled it down for the smaller recipe.

This bread looks just like what my Italian grandma used to make. I do have anise extract but no whiskey or bourbon. Will it still come out good without the liquor ?

That is wonderful to hear! You will be fine without bourbon or whiskey. I would add the anise extract right after you add the flour. Some extracts are high in alchohol and will inhibit your bread from rising a lot. Please show me a photo if you make the Easter bread!
