Glory to Italian Army. I am not from Italy. However my grand-grandfather was in Czechoslovak Legions in there. (20 000 strong) And he fought in 3 battles. And in most known battle of Legions - Doss Alto/Hill 703. And in 1919 he fought against Communist Hungarians on borders.

@@sp3ctre360 In realtà non erano per la maggior parte antifascisti, gli arditi del popolo erano tali solo di nome, la maggior parte degli arditi ha aderito al fascismo, o al massimo al nazionalismo, creando le prime squadre fasciste in opposizione ai social-comunisti.

Very unfortunate what the Entente or allies did to Italy after the war. They basically robbed them and made them leave Albania which was theirs by force. This was what Mussolini used to get into power and get them into war later on. I know my grandfather told me that a lot of Italians were very upset that they fought for basically nothing.

My Nonno !! Left Sicily aged 18 to fight for his country in the Alps. When he returned 5 years later a TRUE hero , too many stories to tell here, but as a little boy I do remember each one that he told me while sitting next to him in his little house in the Nebrodi mountains . He was awarded the highest military honours and we ( our family ) have recently been asked to write a short article about him to be displayed in a new Museum. We are very proud and humbled by this man and all that fought and died for us . Grazie ,,sempre nei nostri cuori.

Mio bisnonno (trentino) ha combattuto per difendere il territorio in cui era nato dagli italiani (e non solo) , nel 1914 venne "spedito" in Russia per poi essere mandato a combattere in Italia nel 1915 (sul Carso, sul fronte dolomitico, a Folgaria e sul Pasubio), nel 1917 ritornò sul fronte orientale (Romania) e vi rimase fino alla fine della guerra. A conflitto concluso saltó giù dal treno in corsa prima di arrivare a Trento per paura degli italiani, ad un certo punto si ritrovó di fronte a dei soldati italiani che sorvegliavano un'incrocio, mio bisnonno, accordandosi con i suoi compaesani (anche loro di ritorno dal fronte), decise di andare per primo, quel povero soldato italiano non fece neanche caso alla divisa che indossava mio bisnonno e gli chiese che ore fossero. Questo per dire che tutti i soldati (italiani e non) erano uguali, dei poveri ragazzi travolti dai litigi dei "potenti" .

The italian front was the most dangerous front in ww1 which was fought between italians(including my great grandfather) and everyone that served in the austro-hungarian army. Respect to all.

I don’t know if it was the most dangerous but it definitely had the most incompetent officers. Honestly, either the Caucasus front, or the Serbian front were probably the deadliest per capita but I could be wrong.

I saw a program where the Italians were pulling a 6 TON canon up to the TOP of those mountains, plus all their munitions, food, water, equipment. What happens when they run out of water, food, unlike flat terrain where they can be quickly supplied. Then just imagine in sub freezing temperatures for most of the year, wounded, no water, food, and they fought there for 3 years, over 1 million Italians, Austrians killed. Digging trenches from ROCK compared to dirt and hauling the equipment to do that also. And as far as incompetent officers it's the usual never ending meme directed towards Italy mainly because of one, Cordona. There were just as many on the other fronts and in every battle/war since war began.

Both my Grandfather's fought in the Italian army in the 1st world war how brave they were my grandfather Marco Rea and my Grandfather Vincenzo Schiavi. My father and his brothers and my Mama's brothers were all in the British army in the 2nd world war. My Grandfather's were interned on the Isle of man for being Italian that was the only crime they had committed. I'm a proud British/Italian with dual nationality. The Italian soldier is as good as any solder. They never talk about Italy's efforts in the 1st world war we only hear about the British, French, and Americans......What about the Italian's and the ferocious battles they had with the Germans and Austrians who were also good soldiers. Italy is never mentioned and her brave sons who gave so much to defend our beloved Patria!! Via I'Italia, Via la nostra Patria, Via gli Italiani per sempre!! ♥️

Come si dice dalle mie parti, gli altoatesini ( pardon sudtirolesi, altrimenti si offendono), sono superlativi nell'arte del " chiagne e fotte"... avrei barattato ste 4 montagne con la bella Istria: mare, sole, arte. @Slovenian Panzer Comander That the austrians are metaphorically referred to as the huns since they are foreigners in a land they don't belong (since the huns came from eastern europe/asia and conquered land etc.. ) and that we finally evicted them away, also makes sense cause they are both from the north east (geographically speaking from italy).

Aggiungerei pure i veneto istriano dalmati della penisola istriana e dintorni imbarcati sulle corazzate San Stefano e Vienna . Nonostante l'orgoglio per le gesta dei bisnonni è tremendo sapere che nelle stive di quelle navi c'erano pure autentici fratelli parlanti lo stesso dialetto e costretti a lottare per Von Tegethoff ed il Kaiser .

@@Clodovaeus-Augustulus Erano cittadini austriaci, e quindi dovettero servire nelle file della Kuk Armee. Molti furono anche inviati sul fronte sud, contro l'Italia. Qualcuno disertò, come Cesare Battisti, e si unì al Regio Esercito, per poi finire impiccato come traditore. Per queste persone comunque, come per tanti altri su opposti fronti, il concetto di Italia o Impero austroungarico o Germania o Francia significava ben poco, sarebbero ben volentieri tornati a casa loro. Con la guerra chi perde sempre è il popolo.

In the plains it was similar to the life in the Flanders'trenches so there was mud, humidity and water everywhere, it was also rainy and cold in winter but at high altitude it was ice cold for the whole year, snowy in winter and rainy in summer with the terrain often iced 'cause of the temperature
