That was because Yuji was just spamming it then without realizing it was adaptable. Here he used it strategically.

I like how differently distinct Sub and Dub Mahito's cries were, yet still envoking that fear in his voice JP Mahito was like a newborn baby thrown into the wild. All he could do was flail, wail and cry. It was weak, it was pathetic, but he couldn't do anything EN Mahito was like a spoiled brat finally being taught a lesson. Again, all he could do was flail and wail, but it wasn't a survival tactic of a weak creature, but rather just a spoiled cry saying "Why didn't I get this"

Hot take, but I rank gojo and idatori’s va’s for both sub and dub and the same level Gojo’s jp va does a better job showing you that despite gojo being the strongest, he’s still a goofball. Gojo’s dub voice does a better job executing his serious moments, and I will admit, I like dubs version of gojo being “high” Idatori’s English and jp voice both sound really good, but when they hit, they hit real hard

I had a theory that the winter forest was kind of like a domain of Yuji’s (again, never read the manga, going off anime logic). There was no easy way out and Mahito had no chance of winning in there. He’s fearing for his life like a rabbit caught in a trap, as the big bad wolf comes closer and closer with no remorse or care for what he’s about to do, nor do we feel sympathy as the audience seeing Mahito’s fate be sealed in there. The happiest we as the audience could probably feel towards him only at best is how Yuji is looking down on him here in this scene.

If it was a domain, it would have had to have been dealt with by Kenjaku before he could do all of the funny Mahito slurping he did. He woulda talked about it bc he's a certified yapper. Itadori didn't do a domain expansion Mahito was just so tired/drained/absolutely fucked that he couldn't run away.
