Basically eren was mad because eren saw himself telling grisha what he has to do and grisha can't exactly see eren he is seeing all this through Eren's memeory and next ep will be probably Ymir's flashback I think

My fellow friends please send this guy the guide link. The title is Memories of the Future so past grisha there is seeing the memories of our present Eren ... So grisha is seeing the POV of our present Eren like Kruger seeing the POV of grisha giving the attack titan to eren. Therefore Grisha receive memories of the future inheritor( Eren). e.g grisha receive future momeries (Eren looking to Zeke) then grisha awake up shock saying "Zeke is that you ? No I'm dreaming, beardy old guy .....". Last scene of Eren convincing grisha Todo it at the same time past Grisha receive t future memories of Eren's POV ,. Seeing himself(grisha) hearing the words of Eren.

Yeah this is THE episode. Eren kissing Historia’s hand immediately becomes the most important and trascendent moment in AoT. Eren kissed Historia’s hand and saw his father’s past memories. But those memories from Grisha were actually what future/paths Eren showed him from the future. The attack titan doesn’t push forward because it wants freedom, it moves forward because that’s what Eren’s personality has always been, and Eren has influenced every other past attack titan owner before him

There was an official guide in understanding this chapter in the manga among manga readers when this chapter first came out that I'll just type out to you, to help you fully grasp what is happening here because this part is extremely important for you to understand before seeing the rest of the series. I won't spoil anything that hasn't been shown yet in the anime btw. This guide will help you understand the three different forms of time travel in fiction first and then I'll go on to explain Attack on Titan's version of time travel so you can get a good grasp of things. The 3 Main versions of time travel are *Fixed Timeline* - In a fixed timeline, even when parties/people travel back in time... The future they left cannot be changed. All events remain as fixed points in time, the actions of the traveler in the past have already become a part of history. This is known as the Novikov Self-Consistency principle. For example, say you travel back in time in order to kill Adolf Hitler as a baby in order to prevent World War 2. You replace him with an orphaned baby, so that the family will not notice. You travel back to the future, and the replaced baby grows up to become Adolf Hitler himself. As seen in - The Terminator, Harry potter 3 and 12 monkeys. *Dynamic Timeline* - Altered events in the past have definite impacts on the present. For example - If you travel back in time and assassinate your grandfather, you also prevent your own birth and your eventual trip back in time. In turn, your grandfather is never killed, and you are born again, only to go back in time and assassinate your grandfather anyway, this loop continues infinitely and creates a PARADOX. As seen in - Back to the future *Multiverse* - The concept of a multiverse supports an alternate timeline. In an infinite number of parallel universes, traveling into the past causes a new divergent timeline from the first. Because of this, the traveler can do anything with impunity, and only the new timeline will be affected. For example - If you travel back in time and assassinate all your grandparents. Nothing happens, there is no paradox, you have simply created a new timeline in which you will not exist, but the original timeline is unaffected. however, you cannot return to your original timeline. As seen in - Dragonball Z (Trunks) Terminator 2, 3 misfits and Start Trek 2009. Attack on Titan uses the first method, the Fixed Timeline, which is the model Einstein believed in. In a fixed timeline like attack on titan, neither the future nor the past can be changed. The concepts of past and future are rendered useless here. "Time is a flat circle", not a stream. As others have put it - "The ink is dry". The future has "already happened" So to speak even if you only perceive the present. We may see Eren meddle in the past, but any "changes" he makes simply result in the future that we've already seen unfold for 79 episodes. This calls into questions the very existence of free will in this series. *The Attack Titan* The key ability of the attack titan is to passively receive visions or memories of its future successors. These memories are like "movies". They are viewed, but not interacted with. Eren Kruger experienced this when he remembered the name of Armin and Mikasa. *Eren's Ability to Interact with Memories that you witnessed in the episode* Although users of the attack titan can receive memories of the future, they normally can't "change" or interact with any memories at all. Even Eren could not do this before now... So why was Eren able to seemingly change things in chapter 121? Because he had the perfect conditions! These conditions are: 1. The attack titan 2. The founding titan 3. Contact with a titan of royal blood The key is Eren's head tap with Zeke. Zeke, having full control of the coordinate, can use paths to allow the two to experience Grisha's past memories in full, and without limitations. We see that as Eren and Zeke walking through Grisha's life. With condition 2 and 3 fulfilled, Eren and Zeke can freely view Grisha's life, as if through a one-way mirror. Without condition 3 being fulfilled, however, interaction between Eren and Grisha would be impossible. In short, if Eren had any Titan other than the attack titan, he would only be able to look. However, because the attack titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that's he's currently experiencing, in real time. This is a truly special occasion. To better explain this using this episode as an example- Grisha's present view talking to the royal family, is being viewed by Eren because of conditions 2 and 3, Grisha in turn can see Eren's view of himself in that moment with the royal family via Grisha's Attack Titan ability because Eren is watching him in the future. So, he's watching two points of views as this is happening, he sees his own personal view of the moment in his own body and eyes, and also can see himself in that same exact moment in 3rd person via Eren's point of view and through Eren's body and eyes in the future because of his attack titan ability. To add to this amazing situation, the reason why he can see Zeke is because he can see through Eren's viewpoint and in both moments in the episode where Grisha saw Zeke, initially when Zeke was in the cellar and Grisha thought he was dreaming and after slaughtering the royal family is because both of those times if you noticed, Eren is standing behind Grisha looking directly at Grisha and Zeke, giving Grisha a good view of Zeke. In turn, the physical hug Grisha gave Zeke wasn't actually real, he didn't actually physically touch Zeke, he was using Eren's viewpoint to pinpoint where Zeke actually was and if you notice Grisha's eyes were as if he was looking directly through Zeke at something else when he said he was a bad father. That's because he himself can't see or feel Zeke, he's looking at air. This is also why Grisha looks freaked out when he "sees" Eren at the front door of his house from the Episode 1 memory when he offers to show kid Eren the cellar. He's really briefly seeing himself in the third person, and he realizes that means future Eren is right in front of him staring at him. And to your point about Kid Eren not having the power of the attack titan yet in that moment, that doesn't really affect anything in a fixed timeline. In this fixed timeline, no matter what, Eren will inherit the attack titan. Hopefully this helps you and your viewers understand what just happened.

Time is determined in AOT. There's one timeline, one "destiny" and it's unchangeable. Because of that, it also accounts for messing with time. So when that timeline is "built", it's already built taking into consideration possible time manipulations. So yes, it's a paradox. I believe there's a name to it, and it's a study of deterministic philosophy. Basically, because Grisha kills the Royal Family because Eren manipulates him to do it, but Eren manipulates him to do it because Grisha killed the Royal Family. Now, the Attack Titan's power is glimpsing into future inheritors memories. So, because the future is determined, you can see into it. This is why Grisha can get his memories even though Eren doesn't have the powers yet. But Eren accessing his memories isn't the AT's power, it's the Founder's power. So, in a nutshell. Eren and Zeke use the Founder to access Grisha's memories. Eren then sends his memories to Grisha (that being, Eren's memory of visiting Grisha's memories). So Grisha is seeing himself from the THIRD person, through Eren's eyes. THAT'S how Eren "talks" to Grisha. He's hearing Eren from the speaker point of view through the memory Eren sent. It's paradoxical and confusing but that's the nature of time travel in a fixed timeline universe.

Thank you for the explanation! There is still something I am a bit confused about, I hope it's ok to ask you about it. From what you wrote, does that mean that the only reason Eren was able to send his memories back to former ATs in the first place was because of that one moment when him and Zeke used the founder to access Grisha's memories? Meaning that this is the only condition/event that triggered the ability to send memories back in the first place? Also I see a lot of other comments say that the AT's ability is to send memories BACK to its past holders, but the show says (like you) that its ability is to see the memories of future holders, and there is a difference between the two. So, just to make sure I got it right: to my understanding, Grisha and Kruger would NOT have been able to send their own memories back to past holders, and what Grisha perceives to be the "ability" of every AT - seeing future memories - is really only Eren and Eren alone sending memories back to Kruger, to his dad, and also to himself (indirectly via his dad..). So it's like Eren unlocked this "ability" in this very episode and it was always only him who could actually send memories back? This whole thing is quite confusing to me, so I'm sorry if what I wrote doesn't make much sense..

Now for the ones wondering why later on Grisha gives Eren his Titan even when he says that zeke should stop Eren it is because Eren didnt show Grisha a memory that Carla would die. My man grisha looked dead inside when later on kid Eren told him that carla was eaten which lead to Keith's bystander story. Grisha immediately took eren to the forest where he gave his titan to him. Looks like his hatred for Marley was reignited due to Carla's death

Btw this was not in the manga, this is just speculation on your part? Why did grisha say to zeke stop eren and then gave him after the founder and attack titan? It's a mystery. Maybe eren showed something after the rumbling...

Based on the information from the episode and manga, Grisha up to the point of killing the reiss family says to Zeke that he should stop Eren because he saw Eren's future memory which he describes as terrible. Now this is a man that hesitates to kill the reiss family because of the kids which he quotes "i am a doctor, i save lives not take them". Now we can assume that the terrible thing he saw of the future would be the rumbling, basically mass genocide. For the current Grisha this is unthinkable that Eren plans to do these so he begs Zeke to stop him. So why would he, after that incident return to shiganshina, give his titan to Eren? Grisha in this episode and in the manga questions Eren why wont he show everything? The walls being destroyed, and IF CARLA IS SAFE? We can assume that Eren didnt show Grisha the memory of Carla being eaten by the titan. He only knew Carla is dead when kid Eren told him later on when Grisha arrived at the refuge center with Keith. After he learns that Carla is dead, you can literally see his dead asf eyes and tells Eren to avenge Carla which can literally mean entrusting the future of eldia to his son. The hints are shown at the flashbacks. This is the only plausible reason why Grisha would suddenly support Eren rather than Zeke in the future.

@@ramenshoyu3873 Yeah, that may be it. But... what does eren want to accomplish when he does not tell him about carla? If he told him, he may have wanted revenge as well, and right away, right? Just as you teorize he wanted when kid eren tells him. Maybe the difference is that the revenge that awakens from grisha comes from seeing the innocence, powerless and sadness of the kid and not the coldness and ruthlessness of the adult eren.

To explain the future memories bit, the power of the Attack Titan is the power to send memories from its future inheritors back to its past inheritors. That makes it unique from other Titans which can only see memories from the past. The thing with the future memory transfer is that you can't send future memories back to your past self, since the AT only has to power to send the future memories to its past inheritors. There's a loophole, however, which Eren has exploited. If you send future memories to a past inheritor, and then unlock the past memory of that inheritor seeing those future memories, you see your own future memories. Grisha isn't actually seeing Eren. He's seeing himself in the 3rd person from Eren's pov, thus hearing what Eren is saying. It's the same with Zeke, Grisha only sees Zeke when Eren is directly looking at Zeke. When Eren kissed Historia, he unlocked the last of Grisha's memory of Future Eren sending him the future. Thus Eren learned of events which would occur in the future.

I think Erens "I'm not brainwashed" is more like "Aye, lets get this moving.. got business to handle"

With this episode it now makes more sense what Kruger said back in s3 referring to Armir and Mikasa even tho they weren’t even born. The Attack Titan most likely can only see the future because of Eren and that’s why it’s known as the titan who always fought for freedom and was so mysterious and unpredictable,because all this time Eren has been manipulating it behind the scenes. This titan is literally Eren throughout history.

@@MrEdit-ic7th Eren's not travelling through time. It's just certain memories that an Eren even further into the future than the Eren in this episode has sent back to Grisha and some other AT holders like Kruger. So, there's nothing to see

Going by what Grisha was saying, Eren was selectively showing Grisha certain memories. Grisha said he didn't know what would happen to the walls, or Carla, so Eren withheld those future memories from him. Essentially, people thought Zeke was manipulating Eren, but Eren was manipulating everyone.

@@juancarlos-yt7dr That's not how it works. An attack titan holder can not send memories to themselves. What happened in Eren's case was that future Eren sent memories to Grisha, so when younger Eren saw Grisha's memories he also saw the memories his future self sent him.

So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1. ⁠⁠He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2. ⁠⁠The ability of the Founding Titan 3. ⁠⁠He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. @@xv999 Since Grisha saw it from Eren's POV, he was able to know where Eren was standing in the room. He knew Eren was standing at the doorway because he saw Eren's future memory of him standing at the doorway looking directly at Grisha. So Grisha knew Eren was there. (Because of Eren's POV, Grisha would also know where Zeke is standing too) I hope I explained that well. This whole thing is a mind fuck lol

@@xv999 As he/she explained, Grisha wasn’t only seeing through Eren’s point of view. He was experiencing his present and also peeking into the future inherited, Eren’s memory, knowing Eren is also looking at him through this memory travel, so he technically had 2 pov rather than 1 pov. This isn’t really time traveling, this is a pure occasion that can only be created in this specific scenario which was of course, an absolute result led by attack titan’s ability.

@@xv999 Because when grisha is viewing that memory, he is seeing Eren looking at him in the past. Because the attack Titan can see future events, grisha in the past can see that in Erens memories he’s standing right in front of him. Therefore eventhough grisha is looking through eren’s perspective in the memories, he still knows based on them that from where he’s stood, Eren is standing right in front of him since he’d be watching himself through erens pov. He’s looking at himself through erens memories allowing him to see that Eren would be stood right in front of him watching those past events play out. It’s like he’s acknowledging that Eren is watching

Fun fact: Grisha didn't see old Zeke and Eren through his perspective, instead he saw it all through Eren's perspective since Eren sent his memories back in time to Grisha via the Attack Titan. Notice how whenever Grisha sees Zeke, Zeke is within Eren's sight, so he saw it all in 3rd person view basically which means when he stared in Eren's eyes he actually saw himself. Must've trippy af for Grisha

I can definitely see why!! 100% facts!

“Err.. have I been to here before?” Eren, S3E6 “I was lucky enough to be the only survivor from the massacre.” Rob Reiss, S3E6 “If you want to save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else, you must complete your mission.” The Owl, S3E21 “My hand can still feel the way that my dad massacred the royal kids.” Eren, S4E19 The biggest plot twist finally revealed. Grisha, from the very beginning, was never “the real one” to kill the royal family. Some ppl may think Eren changed the past or time travel, no he didn’t, his manipulation to Grisha was included in the past. Neither past nor future could be changed in AOT. It has a fixed timeline. And the the attack titan ability, it actually does not foresight the future. It can receive brief memories from the future inheritor. How Eren knows his own future is the adult Eren sends memories back to his father, then when young Eren touches any royal, the memories will kind of unlock, so young Eren can see his future self from his father memories. Also the freedom seeking will from AT, is from Eren as every AT shifter follows will of the last AT.

My question is how can Eren been there to manipulate Grisha when Grisha doesn't want to kill the Reiss Family? Eren can only been there if he got the Founding titan right but Grisha doesn't have intention to kill them means Eren will not get the Founding titan. This is so weird and doesn't make sense....

Grisha is the attack titan holder Basically Grisha can see that future Eren will go back to his memories with Zeke, but from Eren’s POV. And why Grisha still killed the royal even it’s not his intention bc this is the future AT see, and those things must happen. Don’t know if I explain it well but this makes sense.

@@weiiiyeaaa1175 AOT has a fixed timeline and time doesn’t really matter. Past, present and future are all happening at the same time. Yes Grisha didn’t want to kill the royal and you could say he didn’t want to give Eren the founding too. It’s not his intention but all these are what he saw from the memories, so he had to go for it. Yea you said Grisha has no intention to kill them and means Eren will not get the founding, but all these didn’t happen right? Reality is Eren made Grisha to kill them and he got the founding and attack then in future he goes back to Grisha’s memories with Zeke to make him kill the royal. This is a full circle, which also means time doesn’t matter bc past, present and future are all happening at the same time in this timeline. Idk how to explain it anymore, you can try to search a post on Reddit called AOT chapter 121 and it explains very well

@@weiiiyeaaa1175 everything is already fixed in place, nothing is getting manipulated through time. Grisha will and will always kill the royals because at that moment, even dating back to episode 1, future memories of eren was already there pushing him to do so. It's a causality loop wherein eren will always get the attack titan no matter what and relive this very moment to tell his father why he should kill them all. Actually eren didn't know how is he going to send memories of him gaslighting grisha with zeke , but the causality effect will always point him and zeke into this path (aka viewing grisha's memories "together with zeke")

From the very first episode title (To you, 2000 years in the future) I always had a feeling there was going to be some SteinsGate level of fuckery at some point... but this was still kind of crazy.

You're the only reaction I've seen that noticed that Grisha was looking at future Eren in the key scene. If you go back and look at Episode 1 he was looking off to the side where future Eren stands, so this was planned from the beginning.

This episode was one of the best in the series for me. That being said, I am still just as confused as you lmao. I also bawled my eyes out with that Grisha and Zeke scene at the end. I'm hoping that scene was "real", but even if it wasn't, I'm going to tell myself that it was real haha. Also, Grisha's voice actor deserves so many awards and Oscars just for this episode alone 😎

Grisha doesn't physically see Eren throughout the episode. Whenever he looks like he does, he's actually getting a glimpse of himself through Eren's POV because he's able to peer into the future memories of the Attack Titan's inheritors i.e Eren. He's seeing Eren's memories from his POV, which is also why Grisha was able to see Zeke in the basement and outside the Reiss church.

And now you back to the Season 1 episode for that scene. And see where Grisha is looking at. When I was reading the manga for that, I had to go back to that particular scene n my mind blown haha.

In AOT comics first episode, grisha didn't look little eren showing the key, but look other side. That reappeared now😱

The wielder of the Attack Titan can receive memories from its future wielders. Since Eren is a wielder of the Attack titan he can choose what memories to send to Grisha.

Grisha can sense them and even see them becuase of his Titan power from the attack Titan; the power to see memories from past and even future attack Titan users. Since zeke and eren went back in time to see past events Grisha can sense and see them from seeing Erens memories of being there. Basically seeing what eren is seeing since Grisha can see future memories. It’s kind of confusing but extremely well written when you get it.

They didn’t go back in time and Grisha cannot sense or see them, he receives memories from Eren so he only sees what eren sees. When he’s looking at adult eren he’s actually looking into his own eyes. Must’ve been really creepy for Grisha.

Season 3 episode 22. Episode when Eren kissed historia hand. Face he was making back then was a shock. He saw himself convincing his father to kill the children. Thats the point he was changed forever. Next we saw him is at see mumbling about killing his enemies, and next time we saw him after that is in season 4 as invalid soldier, completely emotionless and changed as person.

I guess now the reason why Eren did not mourn about Saschas death is, because he have already known that she will being killed, which honestly concerns me about Armins and Mikasas future. I mean Erens cold behaviour towards them could also mean that he knows that they will be safe at all, so he does not actually care acting so rough with them in the present, but I'm really worried that he might just being prepeared for everyones death in order to fulfill the future he maybe already has been seen. Especially after seeing how he's acting with his father (although this probably had to be done, because he can't change the future).

Last episode was a 10/10. This deserves more than 10/10. As a manga reader,they did this more than justice. Just some tips for anyone still 1confused. I don’t think these are spoilers,but I give a warning anyway…. Grisha, Kruger and every attack Titan holder before that have been working according to the memories sent by the future chad Eren. Eren sent his memories back in time to create the perfect environment for him to steal the founding titans power in the future and destroy the world. Remember,out of all the 9 titans,the attack Titan had always been in search of freedom,free from the founding titans control. Why do you think that is? Eren had been influencing them all. About Grish seeing Zeke at only certain times….. Grisha actually doesn’t see Eren or Zeke in HIS real time. No,Grisha sees them through the memories Eren sent him. In this case,the memory of Zeke and Eren traveling through Grishas memories, is the exact memory Eren had sent him. Notice that every time Grisha sees Zeke,Eren is standing right behind Grisha? In other words,Grish I seeing it through Erens perspective. And also when Eren told Grisha to slaughter the kids…he didn’t hear it in real-time. He has been given the memory where Chad Eren whispers that to Grisha. Aka,Grishas hearing a memory of Eren coaxing him to kill the kids. That in turn affect him in HIS real time. AND when Grisha shows the key to chad Eren ,he really doesn’t see him,but he has a general idea of where Eren is standing in the room,because of the memories he’d been given from the future(which are from Erens perspective). That’s why he doesn’t speak about how much Eren had grown,because he literally can’t see him. Only see himself through future Erens perspective,aka memories. Just GENIUS writing

For people wondering why attack titan always disobey the royal family was because of Eren. You see what makes attack titan unique from other titans is that unlike other titan whose previous users affect future titans as the case with Armin and Bartholomeo, Attack titan future self affect the previous owners. Hence, Eren who hated royal family and always pursude freedom, resulted in previous owners having the same mentality.

It doesn't matter if Eren didn't have the power at that moment. The Attack Titan's power trascends time, it doesn't follow the stream of time in one direction, it allows the one holding it to see EVERYTHING. When Eren kissed Historian's hand, because she is royal blood, and because he has also the Founder Titan he was able to fully use his power. Grisha was looking at Zeke because Zeke was in Eren's memory. Zeke was physically there in the past, nor Eren, but Grisha saw him because it was part of Eren's memory. Just remember the title of the episode. It's "Memory of the future" it's simple.

The answer to the majority of the doubt is that no spoiler attack Titan has the power to see the memories of the future inheritors but it's the future inheritors who decide how much they will get to see so grisha saw eren memories of him being here with zeke seeing his dad memories

Im not a manga reader so this my assumptions. What if The attacking titan real power is not to see the future but to influence the past inheritors mentally. We all know how kruger mention mikasa nad armin but he himself don't even know any more details of why he mention it. Eren influence his father to eat frieda but Grisha refuse at first. It seems like Eren can only influence past attacking titan inheritors since only inheritors can see only connect with inheritors memories only. Plus are we forgetting that WHO TF TOLD GRISHA THAT HIS TITAN POWER?? Like if the power of someone in the future to influence the past inheritors, then doesn't it mean that Eren can just lie to any past inheritors to believe anything since eren already saw have happen after that? This ep blows my mind

Why no one has reading ability? Eren doesn't see the future, only his Titan predecessors can. That's why his father knows what's going to happen. Eren is just going his way

This episode got me scratching my head for hours, I don't hate time travel, I hate that its too confusing for me lol, I understood that Grisha wasn't gonna kill the royal family but eren from the future persuaded him to but the rest is so confusing

It was implied very clearly that Eren was born the way he is simply because of the fact that Griesha made love with Carla and impregnated her under the influence of the Attack Titan. Griesha's sperm cells have embodied the essence and spirit of the Attack Titan, therefore the baby growing inside Carla's womb will take form based on the will of the Attack Titan. Zeke, however, was created before Griesha had the Attack Titan, so Dina did not get impregnated with it.

We all knew what happened. We're surprised on *how* all of these happened.

Look back into the episode in S3 where Grisha was going to stab his hand. There's a single black frame in between which is when Eren did this thing.

This freaking show managed to flip the show twice. After the basement, the genre of the show changed, and then now with the time travel plot

the attack titan power is you can only see a "glimpse" it's just a glimpse of the future you're able to see, eren just utilize the power to achieve his "own" plan. but overall it was not eren's plan, it is someone else's, it will be revealed next episode.

zeke thought that grisha brainwashed eren. but its the other way around. if you look closely. when grisha sees eren. thats the time when he's being manipulated by eren.

Yes, he is able to see the past and future because he’s the attack Titan. But I think it is when he interacts with Zeke (with the royal blood), he is able to intervene the past. Also, I have been thinking a theory that Eren’s power is incomplete: he is able to see the clips and the scenes of the past and the future, but he cannot see the whole picture and the timeline himself. That may explain why he didn’t do anything to change some of people’s fate (such as not saving Sasha, or other things happen later, because he cannot tell exactly when these things will happen).

Grisha is actually hugging empty space there. The show visualizes is as a physical hug which can make it confusing, but that was more to symbolize how real the embrace felt to Zeke. The reason Grisha can see Zeke, and knows he’s standing there, is because Eren is looking at the interaction, and sending that memory to his father. Grisha is seeing this interaction from Eren’s perspective. So he’s actually also seeing himself in the memory (he’s seeing himself “hug” Zeke in 3rd person)

Responding to your main question, yes, Eren didn´t have the power at the moment that Grisha knew it all. But you skipped a phrase on the chapter that said "The Attack on Titan, can see his future inheritors memories". So it didn´t matter that Eren didn´t have the power, but he would eventually will. That´s more than enough for Grisha to can see the future on Eren´s POV. Hope u understood cause english is not my native lenguaje.

@@MemoryNK To answer your question, Eren sent the memory of him and Zeke accessing Grisha's memory to Grisha. Grisha actually did not see Eren during the time that he attack the royal family. What Grisha saw is Eren's memory in the future that Eren persuaded him to acquire the Founding Titan. My English is bad so I hope you get the idea. 🥲

For any of you that are confused, When he kissed historias hand in s3, eren unlocked the rest of grishas memories. These memories include the ones grisha received from older eren and what he would end up doing with the founder's power. Since attack titan holders can't send memories to themselves(only different inheritors), future Eren showed his past self memories by having him experience them through grisha's(when he kissed historia's hand). This is why Erens personality starts to shift into a more depressed one after that incident. He's processing those memories and what the action he chooses to take in the future means. Or at least, I believe it was future Erens intention to show his past self memories. it could be that it was an unintended consequence. An insignificant one at that.

Memories of the future are sent to the past by eren (to all past Attack Titan holders) to influence it to get to the future that Eren wants. (Also the fact that he is wandering in the past is only thanks to Zeke going there with him.)

The Attack Titan doesn't exactly "see" the future but the current holder gets to see SELECTED MEMORIES from the future holder, the latter choosing those memories. But something happened that never did before, when Eren kissed Historia's hand, he actually literrally saw the future and saw himself influencing his father in the Reiss cave. He basically knew at that exact moment what he needed to do to influence everything and create his idea of "freedom". So Eren showed Grisha just the right memories to let him know that the walls are gonna get attacked and Eldia being in great danger, to get Grisha into the Reiss cave, so "future" Eren would influence his decision at that moment and change the course of history in his advantage... or actually make the only history timeline that has ever been.

Eren the villain confirmed. I was always confused when I watched S3 reactions to why Grisha would pass his titan powers to Eren since he seemed like a good parent in Paradis.

I'm sure it is somewhere in the comments already, but the reason why Zeke can be seen is because eren is looking at him, so Grisha can see the future through eren's eyes, same thing happens when Eren and Grisha lock eyes in the doorway. My take ok it, is that Eren is trying to break Zeke, and best way to do that is to show him that his father loved him. And the whole "why wont you show me everything" says that Eren has control over what he does and doesnt show. Which tells me that he is purposefully showing Grisha the image of Zeke, and his speech to get Grisha to kill everyone. I have even confused myself here, how does Eren see the future? I thought you only saw future/past of other attack titans, not yourself. Therefore Grisha saw the future and Eren saw the past, unless Eren is seeing some other attack titans memories after him. This could all be wrong and he could possibly see his own past/future too, idk. But Eren didnt neccessarily know this future, Zeke even states they spent years going through Grisha's memories, and Zeke initially didnt have the power of the founding titan when he went to the Tree place. Whos to say that during this time, eren learned the power of the founder, or somehow learned that by using the memory of him kissing Historias hand, he can use the power too. Why else show 1 memory from Eren that wasnt part of Grisha 's memories. That insant could have been when Eren gained control of the founder. Point where all times insterect, it can be and is every time there has been, and in past time, Eren has touched a Royal. Who knows. This comment is probably a mess. This shows blowing my mind.
