My son gave me a marquee poster of it for Christmas. How can you beat the Duke, Bob Mitchum, a young James Caan and lots of eye candy in Michelle Carey and Charlene Holt. Ride Boldly Ride! A little on the corny side in spots but still great entertainment. Surely beats the CGI crap thats coming out of Hollywood now. Even the biggest stars are in some real gaggers. Talk about taking liberties on the big screen, Caan's distance was "poetic license" enough, but JC's was considerably farther. JC was so cool, he didn't bother to retrieve the weapon, like, I got PLENTY of knives, lol. RIP Mr. Coburn.

My Dad took me to see El Dorado in the Summer of 1967, and I'm telling you; that was one damn good night out at the movies. I was only 9 years old, but I knew even then that I was seeing a good movie. John Wayne and Robert Mitchum were two screen legends who had talent to burn, and their best pictures are far better than what today's actors churn out. Look at what Bruce Willis and John Travolta have put out the past several years. Their movies don't even make it to the cinemas; they are in the five dollar DVD bin at Wal-Mart, and they can't even sell them for that price!!!

You were lucky to be able to be in the middle of a great time for cinema, I am more into 70s and 80s stuff nowadays but I am not immune to the charms of 60s movies or even older stuff; just recently saw two very old movies, Young Mr. Lincoln and Pursued, and I am still mindblown by their quality, that's why I do not lament the current state of the arts, the past is a gift that will never cease to give, one lifetime is not enough to appreciate it proper.

Just realised as I watched this that the villain boss in this great movie was the wonderful Ed Asner. Ed passed just a few days ago as I write. Of the ten top-billed actors from this movie, only Caan survives today. Sure, the movie has a dated, and kinda cute, format but it's still 100% pure entertainment. There's some modern movies I've enjoyed, and still occasionally enjoy, but I always felt I enjoyed every single movie I saw in the golden years.
