    What I don't understand is, why you would want the drive shafts engaged without driving the wheels. If you put the transfer case in 4WD, surely you would want the front wheels to run. So, why would you need to be able to unlock the hubs?

    @@billbillinger2491 I'm still a little confused. I had always understood that the reason for freewheel hubs was exactly that but the reason for doing it was to improve efficiency / use less fuel and reduce wear on long on road runs in 2WD. But these vehicles don't do long on road trips, they are trailered / trucked to where they are needed if it is a long distance from base and spend a lot of time in 4WD, so why is it worthwhile to have freewheel hubs?

    The drone issue is definitely from the 2 identical mufflers. You can't use 2 of the same ones in a system because they will cause a drone issue. You need to use just 1 or 2 different ones. I learned that myself when I started building exhausts. You also want the one with more restriction up front as well. If you don't do that, you can get resonance in the exhaust and that can cause some really bad droning as well. And for Katelynn, when you drive a vehicle without power steering, you want to turn the wheel when the vehicle is moving. That makes it's much easier to turn the wheel as opposed to turning the wheel when the vehicle is not moving.

    You need to cut the " spud truck frame " in half , install a trunnion and make an articulated truck .

  • @fridaynightgamefilm

    @fridaynightgamefilm

    That would be incredible. It would be much more capable of getting through trails if it were articulated. It would also be useful to get unstuck from mud and dunes if it pivoted in the middle... but the hydraulic rams and frame would have to be extremely robust. Given how beefy the off-road wrecker is, I have no doubt that Matt and his team can build something that holds up.

    Matt, look into Cubitron sanding disks(made by 3m).. 36 grit, they may even make rougher grits.. They are a godsend for material removal. The backing plates that're made for them can explode if you catch an edge, so just use a 1/8" grinding disk under it, TRUST ME... if you haven't used them yet... you'll love them. Jman Pipefitter here.. Beveling pipe has been made so much easier with these disks. =)

To get the perfect ratios for his offroad race buggy one of my friends got a set of straight cut gears. He had to wear ear plugs inside his Helmut.
