To increase the usefulness of the spud truck you should look into mounting a 3 ton knuckle boom behind the cab. I have an f550 with one and it is a nice setup.

What I don't understand is, why you would want the drive shafts engaged without driving the wheels. If you put the transfer case in 4WD, surely you would want the front wheels to run. So, why would you need to be able to unlock the hubs?
@billbillinger2491

@@billbillinger2491 I'm still a little confused. I had always understood that the reason for freewheel hubs was exactly that but the reason for doing it was to improve efficiency / use less fuel and reduce wear on long on road runs in 2WD. But these vehicles don't do long on road trips, they are trailered / trucked to where they are needed if it is a long distance from base and spend a lot of time in 4WD, so why is it worthwhile to have freewheel hubs?

Almost need one of those Volvo 6X6 dump trucks for the spud truck. That would make one heck of a Wrecker or rollback.
There is never enough love for Advanced Adapters. Such an amazing company
The drone issue is definitely from the 2 identical mufflers. You can't use 2 of the same ones in a system because they will cause a drone issue. You need to use just 1 or 2 different ones. I learned that myself when I started building exhausts. You also want the one with more restriction up front as well. If you don't do that, you can get resonance in the exhaust and that can cause some really bad droning as well. And for Katelynn, when you drive a vehicle without power steering, you want to turn the wheel when the vehicle is moving. That makes it's much easier to turn the wheel as opposed to turning the wheel when the vehicle is not moving.

What's funny. M22s ran straight cut gears not because straight cut gears were the strongest. The straight cut gears were just easier to mass produce out of stronger steel. Straight cut gears are nowhere near the strongest. In fact they are the weakest gears possible. It was just a strange manufacturing quirk that led to the myth becoming common that straight cut gears are best.

Matt, look into Cubitron sanding disks(made by 3m).. 36 grit, they may even make rougher grits.. They are a godsend for material removal. The backing plates that're made for them can explode if you catch an edge, so just use a 1/8" grinding disk under it, TRUST ME... if you haven't used them yet... you'll love them.
