“Borderlands 1 is good?” 🔫 “always has been”

To me, Borderlands 1 has the best atmosphere and music. Going into Skag Gully for the first time and hearing that throat singing high action music felt exhilirating when being attacked by the badass skags. The game truly felt like post apocalyptic world like Mad Max. I also enjoy the beginning waayyyyy more then the extremely slow start in Borderlands 2. Borderlands 2 improved the story and gameplay but Borderlands 1 will always have a special place in my heart.

also the comedy in bl1 is much better imo. its alot more serious, sarcastic and vague but still comes off great without being so in your face and shoved down your throat like bl2 feels alot of the time. bl2 comedy sometimes feels forced and "haha its funny because they said it really loud and they are cursing and theyre crazy".

You know I will say Randy is a sleazy guy BUT a lot of us buy in to his idiot persona. If you watch him play poker and the way he folds chips it’s obvious he likes to deceive and put on an act. It generates publicity at the cost of personal image but if you can’t be Gabe Newel why not be Randy, we can’t all be zingers. In fact I think after a certain period of success you try to change only to find yourself out of your element. Randy is the type of guy who would listen to limp bizkit while eating greasy foods and admiring jay leno. We don’t like it because we want exceptional people to be present in successful areas but in reality it’s just an act.

Started playing it again with my wife yesterday. We will play every single part with all achievements in steam and the whole series. Borderlands 1, 2, Pre Sequel, Borderlands 3, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. It will be much fun for sure. This series is better than a lot of games out there today.

Borderlands 1 is like that old playground you played on all the time as a kid. It's a little worn out now, and isn't quite as 'cool' and expansive as the new playgrounds that have been built since, and torn down, but it's still standing. It's the "old reliable". It's got character.

Can I hope for a new Borderlands game that's more like the first? It's my favorite in the series. Just so, so good. The treasure hunter story before all the nonsense of the sequels was so cool.

borderlands 1 is still by far the best game they've made, borderlands 2 is great too but one is something you can experience the majority of in 40 hours. It's satisfying to start a new run once or twice a year and actually finish borderlands 1, whereas bl2 becomes such a massive grind because of how long it takes to level and finish the game. It's an amazing game but it's so hard to commit to a replay of BL2 nowadays

Borderlands is such a core childhood memory for me I remember through my whole childhood my brother would always have borderlands on every device he gave me I never really played it but since I am starting to get back into gaming I wanted to learn how to play this game in his honor 😊

I still remember when i was in middle school when this came out and i didnt know about it until i stayed over my cousins house and played it on his old 360 and really enjoyed the experience to where i begged to get it. Ever since then i always played it with my buddies and enjoyed it. Just dont have the time to play it anymore sadly

I think it's my favorite despite the flaws because it's not trying to be more than it is. B2 is good and I will never argue against those who enjoy it, but B1 is just a more relaxing experience for me

A lot of people are of the opinion that the writing of BL 2 was pretty weak compared to 1 too. While I do love me some Borderlands 2, I wish they wouldn't have gone so far over the top with the goofiness.

I still go back and run knoxx runs everytime im bored. Still haven't found a single game to just throw so much loot at you. I love that gearbox never patched the glitch

I have had more legendaries appear before even getting off pandora in the opening act of borderlands 3 in a single playthrough than I have in 5 consecutive runs of the armory in borderlands 1

@@sasaki999pro but the legendaries in borderlands 3 are boring as hell. They're also a majority of the drops available. Borderlands 3 saturated the legendaries pool to much. You'll get 35 of them in a few hours but most of them are leagues worse than purples. Or counter point you'll use the same hellwalker for 30 levels lmao.

I'm glad to see that your classic Borderlands play style of making the game purposely more difficult for no apparent reason all while criticizing how other people play it hasn't changed much.

My unpopular opinion is that the first borderlands game was the best one, there was something special about the music, the atmosphere, the gunplay & while the story wasnt that outstanding it was ok . Team Mordecai always.

Borderland 3 has by far the deepest and most nuanced shooting mechanics having copied many of Bungie’s systems (which I wish everyone would do) of aim assist using an intricate combination of range limited bloom cones, seperate bullet magnetism and reticle friction sliders and all manner of combinations vertical and lateral muzzle flip all tunable separately with multiple drop-off phases to combine with the visuals and sound effects to give guns super individual character, using a mouse always strips the systems down to closer to point and click and you rely mostly on just fire rate, sound and visual effects to get gun feel but on controller it’s awesome. I can’t play any Borderlands much because of the writing, I’m the 1 person to whom the lazy absence of facial animations is annoying and because Randy Pitchford nearly makes me actually physically ill, I literally don’t like even looking at him, but if you play number 3 with a nice controller it’s on a very different level to 1 and 2. In that way anyway.

@@Paddy656 In single player, PVE games I find it way more challenging and immersive to use a controller. Actual shooting involves all of your body’s joints working together and point and the triggers and awkward and difficult nature of a controller is much closer to reality. Point and click is the easiest and most accurate way but it’s not anything like any kind of emulation of reality.

I just played through this and all the dlc. I got some kinda legendary revolver that had ammo regen 😆 was lol 111 damage and 7 pellets. It carried me through all the dlc

I actually played it fairly recently on Switch. In the past I completed it on 360 and PC. Personally, I think it's easy to recommend to people doing multiplayer. It's a fun split screen game. But playing alone is a slog.

Replayed through the entire series jus a couple months ago. First one is probably my favorite vibe from the series. 2nd one made the story better, 3rd most the powers suck but I loved the gameplay.

Somehow though, as empty and dull as Pandora is in BL1, it still has the most fitting atmosphere IMO. It's hard to explain, but it felt right to me, and somehow making it feel more alive in later games by adding more stuff also made it feel more watered down. I realise that's a total contradiction, but I don't know how else to explain it.

@@superscatboy I get what you mean. BL1 was the start of the Vault Hunters and as more came around and Jack and Hyperion did all their stuff to pandora it got more attention and became busier. I think we can all say BL2 is peak BL but I will always give props to the original that started it

I guess each platform had it's own discounts for people that owned one or more of the games. In the case of Xbox, if you had the base game for 1,2, or 3 it's a fixed $30 for the collection. I, unfortunately, had almost everything. I needed commander Lilith dlc and season 2 pass for bl3. On typical sales I had $32 left I needed to spend (45 at full price). However, I didn't have the tales games yet on Xbox so that was a bonus I wasn't expecting to get. Still, I feel my timing was bad. I picked up bl3 super deluxe not so that long before this dropped and wish I had waited to make this a bigger value. Related, I waited so long waiting for the right price for wonderlands and settled on the next level edition for $23 (since the PLC were a joke anyway). A month after and Xbox sends a special offer to but the chaotic great edition for $22.50. missed opportunities... Now I'm waiting for the wonderlands season pass to be like $6 before I'll consider getting it.
