Got the Ranger on a bracelet when it first came out. It solved my two deal breakers on Tudors. No snowflake hands and no faux rivets.

Love the simple dial, unique handset and that t-link bracelet on my new Ranger. The domed sapphire crystal is a winner for me.

Hey Jory, if you don't like the fact that Tudor releases everything under the black bay line, then maybe this will help it make sense: all Rolex are released under the name "oyster perpetual" with subcategories. Thus Tudors are released under the name "black bay" with subcategories. Hope this helps! Also, keep up the good work!

Oyster perpetual simply means the case is waterproof and the movement is perpetually winding. Oyster perpetual collection are watches with the most basic features mentioned above. All rolexes are waterproof and have winding rotors, thus having the oyster perpetual wording. But not all Tudors are Black Bays. Pelagos, ranger, 1926 are not Black Bays.

@@psyteo3130 I beg to differ. My Explorer and Sea-Dweller have very different cases. OP wordings on watches outside the OP collection are just referring to the characteristics of the watches with waterproof case and self winding but Black Bay is just collection, not the characteristics.

@@tcang7035 Not all Rolex watches are automatics. Are you forgetting when Rolex made a quartz line from the 1970s until around 2000? It was called the oysterquartz.

I totally Agree that the Tudor North Flag is a great watch. It has some excellent qualities that are packaged in a watch with a very modern feel. It also manages to crossover, a sports watch field watch vibe with the visual clarity on the dial of a pilots. And the clasp as usual with Tudor looks excellent. An overlooked classic.

I'm reminded of the old C&W song by Mac Davis from 1980. The chorus starts: "Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way; . . ." Tudor seems to be coming around! Excellent!

Just picked up this bad boy cuz it’s not a black bay and I love the bracelet and 39mm size. The face is so simple and easy to read.

Sold my ranger yrs back but I like this new ranger with the fitted endlinks even more. About time they designed a proper bracelet for this thing.

Especially when people are counting the pennies a little more, when I buy a 2400 pound watch , it needs to feel luxury , premium and a cut above mid to lower tear watches. San Martin have JUST come out with a copy of this watch. Would’ve been the easiest one to copy yet! Tudor are the innovators, the ‘BORN TO DARE ERS ‘ missed opitunity here

Great review Jory! I’ve been particularly interested in your thoughts on the Ranger as I know you’re a big fan of the Oris ProPilot. I’m a huge fan of the ProPilot. It’s the watch in my collection I wear most and other than wishing it was maybe just a couple of mm smaller (and some kind of micro adjustment on the clasp would be nice 😂), I think it’s pretty close to being the perfect watch for me! That being said, my dream watch is the Rolex Explorer and specifically the discontinued 39mm variant. I’ve always said that if Tudor ever reissued the Ranger I’d be all over it! I’d prefer start white lume (as on the ProPilot) but otherwise I think Tudor have done a great job with this latest iteration of the Ranger.

Received a black bay bronze from the wife... its my everyday, traveling, everything watch. My Rolexs and Paneris don't even make it to the wrist anymore. Only true watch enthusiasts could only understand the love for this company. Plus I couldn't justify spend that type of money on a Panerai bronzo.

I love it. It’s far different than my omega SMP 300, but rge ranger is exactly what Im looking for, high quality, low key, works for any occasion without worrying about getting it dirty or scratches. I try to actually use my watches insted of just look at them. And finally, one of the best bracelets I’ve ever tried on

I bought the Tudor Ranger 39mm on a bracelet as soon as it came out. The Ranger is low-key and uncomplicated. A perfect no-nonsense field watch that I wear every day.

miss the date on this one. but Tudor wins my heart on the reliability of their movements. the bb is precise AND accurate, in almost all conditions of use. which makes it a close contender to my baroque Omega. Tissot used to be that kind of brand for me 20 years back, with ETA movements. And Cartier ... I say pleaaase :) And the grail ? well, JLC ... why not.

Seems good quality when you turn the crown.

Jory, I bought a North Flag because of you. Bought it new at the end of their lifespan in the AD. I plan on getting the new Pelagos 39.

great video, question, how wide is the band at the buckle?

For me, it's Zodiac, and it's entirely personal preference. I wanted to like Zodiac, I really did, but I dislike bright colors and baton hands, which makes up a lot of their offerings. There is their skin diver set in the super seawolf line, but I think the date window unbalanced the dial. Then I saw the Z09209; no date window to throw off the dial. Black, with pale green and polished steel dagger hands and indicies. It's sleek, straight forward, and I have worn it every day since I got it. Love it to death.

I don't like Hublot however there is one that they make that I really like Classic Fusion Chronograph Rose gold with bracelet. It's 42mm but looks smaller like a 40mm and looks really good.

i like to think that the "Ranger Range" will expand like the black bay range did. ---- first thing, 36mm, with triangle at twelve (and rose above the pinion for the love of the old)...... would like to see one with the same indices and dauphine hands as the original greenland watches

Is the lume better than Oris ProPilot? I had same version of yours but in 45mm but lume wasn't great.

I only ever wanted a pelagos but now I’m having the ranger. For me the ranger and my ollech & wajs c-1000 are the only watches I need.

I don’t like Invicta but I like the pro diver. Yes, it’s a submariner homage, but they regularly go on sale for less than $50. Can’t beat that for an automatic diver. It’s extremely giftable for a first mechanical watch too

I wasn't a fan of tudor... and then the FXD, the BB Pro AND the Ranger all in the past year... and now the Pelagos 39... they're killing it! This is controversial but I'm really not a fan of Rolex... however I am a fan of the Explorer 2 polar dial - I just wish it didn't have that cyclops for the date!

I think you’re not a fan of what the name “Rolex” represents and the baggage it carries. If you peel away all the layers of hype and nonsense you’ll find really solid accurate and robust watches with timeless designs and excellent ergonomics.

@@omarion07 I believe the engineering and build of a Rolex is incredible and I fully respect them for that and how they influence the design of watch design as a whole. However from an aesthetic point of view I just don’t find them that attractive. Some people can rock any Rolex and it’ll suit them… it just looks odd on me. I get that Tudor’s design in many cases is like a homage to Rolex for many watches but the design is cleaner that it just looks younger That said I’m not a fan of the Tudor Chrono or BB58 because like Rolex it just looks old fashioned. The main issue I have with Rolex is that I actually do a lot of the things you see in watch advertising so I prefer watches that can take a beating and have less polished surfaces that I will ruin straight away. As an example my omega seamaster 300m looked utterly destroyed after a few months of diving with it - I’m just glad I didn’t spend 15k on a submariner only to ruin it This is why I love the explorer 2 it still feels like an actual tool watch, it’s the only Rolex watch I would wear… but just hate that cyclops window… maybe I’ll change my mind in the future as my tastes change

Is this hybrid strap long enough for a 20cm/7,8in wrist?

I love Tudor, love the black bay in all its varients, love the Pelagos in all its varients, but this ranger, it just doesn't do it for me. It's not ugly, its not bad, there's things I like about it, but it doesn't scream "I know I'm more way more expensive than other watches in this style, but you know you want me..." to me.

I absolutely LOVE my 38mm Seiko SBB159!! It's a ranger killer, a Hamilton murph 38 killer, and at a quarter of the price of the ranger! I Will send it to you if you have not yet reviewed one.

Thoughts on vintage Tudor? Just got a Oyster prince bigrose 7966, and your thoughts on the brand's trend and direction. Also p.s perfect timing, they just released the pelagos,must have been while you slept when making this vode^👌👍

A lot of people swear by this watch, now it's had time to bed-in. I'm still struggling with the very underwhelming dial, but it looks rock solid and wearable; might be tempted for at least 30% less than retail.

It's nice if you want to pay for "Tudor". If not, get a Sinn 556 for ~£1,000. Or a Smith's or Even CWC G10 for ~£300.

Brand that I don't much care for but like one of their watches? Easy: Tudor and the new reference Ranger. This is the first offering I've ever seen from Tudor that I'm thinking hard about.

I don’t really like Tudor but I think the black bay ceramic is really cool. The black stealthily look and the METAS movement, killer. But I really dislike the snowflake hands and the PVD coated crown. Honestly I could deal with the crown but not the hands.

Tissot is a brand that I'm not a big fan of the sizes of their watches I like are too large, and I can't wear them, the watch that I like is the PRX Powermatic 80 35mm.

I generally dislike Longines but I do like the Spirit (40mm with black dial and leather strap) and the 1832 (a dressy-ish watch that's actually an original design, not another boring retro re-issue).

I love pilot watches but gosh for $3k I don't see it worth buying. I own a 39 archimede type A dial I got for $500 that is similair spec but thinner..I do like that tudor though, looks good

Not keen on Seiko. I dont appreciate how blatantly they ripoff iconic designs from other watchmakers and I think their watch design in general is consistently disappointing. There is at least one thing about virtually every seiko (and grand seiko) that puts me off purchase. Having said that I have a Seiko RAF chronograph that is the business. Great piece.
