It's never too late to start. Why I am returning to art. Becoming an artist in mid life.

Welcome creatives!
In this video I share why I have decided to become an artist after 30 years of not making art. It has taking me this long to realize that it is what I am meant to do. My goal is to eventually become a full time artist. We all get distracted by life and lose track of what brings us joy. Maybe you can relate to this as well?
I am by no means a good artist but the journey means just getting started and practice a lot. I want to explore all the mediums and styles of art because I don't really know what my style is. I just know I need to get started.
I hope you will join me on my journey and help me build a community of people who are rediscovering art after many years of ignoring the creative urge.

I just found you and am going back and watching. I am 68 years old and have always had a passion for art. Life, family, responsibilities always kept me from giving art my all. Even today, I have many burdens. I am making time to create, even if it is just a small sketchbook. I have an art group and have sold some work. I would like to make more of a living from doing what I love. The clock is ticking. I must not give up. All of this to say, I am rooting for you - praying for you.

Hi I just found your channel. I'm a teacher who wants to do a side hustle to save for my retirement and fulfill my artist dreams. I'm 56. Even though I've taught art for over 10 years my confidence about my own skills is lacking. 2 years ago I took a virtual teaching job to have more control over my schedule and to fix my health (classroom teaching took a lot out of me physically and mentally). I'm excited about finding your page :)

Just came across your channel yesterday, and am very looking forward watching all your videos. I was an arty kid who decided to pursue a different career (no regrets). During the covid I started painting again on and off as a way to combat boredom. It took a while to incorporate art as a daily routine but i now realise how much i missed it. I am rooting for you!

I feel like you are saying everything I'm thinking. I'm 53 years old. I've been improving my art skills and starting an art business and you tube channel. Yes I have lots of self doubt and a little discomfort but I'm going to give it my all and hopefully something will come out of it. It's nice to see someone else in the same position paving the way and sharing your experiences. Thanks!

I’m 51 & trying out the art thing too! Was never an artistic person, but the bug has bit me. And after suffering from ongoing work burnout, I quit my job, left the US & moved to Mexico, and have set up my own studio in the spare bedroom of my new apartment. Right now, I’m just exploring what brings me joy, establishing a style, while I’m not working. Would I love to make money at it? Hell yeah!!! I’ve sold a few pieces without any effort, but I’m going to take it slow. Because for now, I just want this new practice to be for me. But I’m excited about this new adventure. Wish me luck!!

I aplaude you woman. You are already a huge inspiration. Yes, to chasing our dreams. I have wanted to be an artist since I'm a child but never took it seriously. I'm now 34 and decided to start the life I really want to live. I'm in for the journey.

I am new to your channel and am kind of in the same boat. I took a 10+ year hiatus from art after growing up as an artist. From the time I could hold a pencil until my high school and college days, I took at least 1 art class, and in high school it was 2 per year. My parents even sent me to art camps during the summer and I even worked for an art studio when I was 16 and that helped to fuel my passion for creating art. However, life happens and I went down a different path as I went out on my own and I got more into computers and was working for a living. Now I am 37 and have spent the last year trying to get back into my art. I made a promise to myself to draw 1 thing per day for an entire year and while I haven't necessarily stuck to that 100%, I have amazed myself at just how far I've come since then. I have about a month to go until my 38th birthday, and I am already planning to have my first art booth at a local art festival next May, so I have 10 months to prepare. I am nervous to share my art with the rest of the world, but I am ready to take that leap. Thank you for the inspiring videos!

That’s amazing that you are getting back into art as well. Congrats on your first art booth! I’m sure you will have a great experience and will continue to grow your art career from there. Isn’t it crazy how we let life get in the way of doing the things that bring us joy. Life is supposed to be joyful! I’m so glad you are discovering art again as well! It’s like anything in life, the more you do it the more confident you will get! Thanks for watching and keep me posted on your journey as well! 🥰
