Really good job on quite a nice and unique plane
I am building this one now and have not had any problems yet...It always amazes me to see how well you experts do such a great job at painting the aircraft as my airbrushing skills are not that great and to see you do the camo with no masking was jaw dropping..it looks beautiful. I am taking an airbrushing course at night school hobby class and it is helping...CHEERS FROM CANADA 😊

I found the engines and exhausts and wheel struts (landing gear a real challenge) cant figure out how you painted the engines and exhausts first then managed to get them glued into those tiny tiny holes? I super glued them first then painted and weathered where I could as the engine cowlings hide most of it..lol@@ModellingWeekly
Wspaniałe wykonanie ! Brawo !
That was an incredible amount of work. Well done!!!
Great result! The final model looks used but not over-weathered, and I love this desert camo scheme.

I could never work out how modellers could cut so precisely the masking of window panes. Now I have an idea but 60 years too late! I always used a fine brush straight onto the frames. What plastic weld do people use now - they never seem to shew it - I only had MekPak after using the brush-on stuff?

Nice build, thanks! You mentioned you might try spraying Molotow chrome. You want to buy a replacement/refill bottle and shake it before use. Spray wet coats without thinning (no need for black undercoat). Personally I think it’s amazing. Applying it with the pens can cause clumping, whereas airbrushing is consistently gorgeous.

Thank you so much, I'm flattered! Yeah haha, I realised I probably should have painted on some of those decals 😂 Catalina may be an idea!
a very minor detail but one that to my eye really helps -- the white stripe painted on the fuselage and the white tone of the decals is basically identical. that just hasn't happened with me yet. excellent build, i really like the giant 1/48 kits out there (A-3D, for example). thank you!

very nice kit , corrugated plane skin is unique for this junker
I have an old release kit of this model. I keep taking it out and looking at it and putting it back. Maybe this time I may actually build it. Two suggestions: I usually paint and decal the instrument panel before assembling it. It makes things a bit easier. Second, Wingnut Wings is sadly, no more but on their website (still running at this time) they have an excellent process for doing wood texture painting. Nice build!

I have finished the painting and all masks for the camo turned out perfect...If I can ask two questions? What kind of wash can I use after using the Mr color GX 100... OIL OR ACRYLIC? and there is two engine cowlings with the exhaust pipes attached (part # 18 and 19) ..are they there in case you dont use the exhausts with the kit?? It does not say anything in the instructions about those cowlings?? Where did you get the nice round display stand?
@ModellingWeekly
6 ай бұрын
Once the gx 100 is fully cured, you can use any kind of wash you like! Not sure about the engine cowlings, probably there for another boxing or variant but I'm not sure. In terms of the display stand, it's just a massive circular mirror that I balanced on top of my turntable

Thanks...I photo copied the planes for the camo instructions on the back pages at 240 on my photo copier...lol ,then cut the designs out and then traced them onto tamayas masking tape which I taped to my large piece of glass then cut out the masks using my sharp modeling knife then sticking them on the plane then airbrushing...haha insane amount of work but I dont have steady hands and a small enough neddle to do it free hand...all in all it turned out excelent...Thanks again 😊@@ModellingWeekly
What a great build the finish was excellent. Can I ask a question I have just got into the hobby again after a long break when you use your airbrush with varnish what do you clean it with after and do you use another airbrush for painting or the same one thanks for your time. Carl
@ModellingWeekly
2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Glad you enjoyed :) Yeah, for varnishing and priming I use another airbrush purely because they're harder things to clean, and also I don't like to get the Infinity too dirty 😂 But jokes aside, for cleaning varnish you can just use isopropyl alcohol, which is what I use for all airbrush cleaning purposes. Anything stronger like thinners or heavy-duty cleaners may damage the seals in your airbrush
Fantastic work! Do you recall about what thinner dilution you were using when you did the yellow camo?
@ModellingWeekly
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Honestly, I'd love to tell you an exact ratio, though I do all my thinning by eye. I'd say roughly about 60 parts thinner to 40 parts paint. Essentially, just until it is a milky consistency
Excellently done painting and details! The only sad thing is the cockpit canopy glass mistake. But otherwise it's beautiful.
