Just Ordered a Jade Star VII, Feather Maiden, Kickback Champ, Lost Robe, and Baked Goods, along with a new strainer! Still picking at The Simple Dreams, Find Your Sunshine II, and even the Jungle Starlet (got another cake aging) and Nug Berry. Y'all have officially made me addicted to playing with tea cakes. thank you, lol.

I jumped out of bed and ordered Jade Star for the first time ever! I always miss it 😂

Glad there was clarification on JS 6. I thought it was some fight club thing that we just don't talk about it lol

Jade star 1 was the tea that made me fall in love with gongfucha (and the first tea that made me tea drunk).

Just received my Jade Star Vll. Wow! Love this tea! I picked up honey, apricots, banana bread, cherries, lotus, wet rocks, orange juice notes… delicious tea. Great body sensation too. One of my favorite white teas for sure

Jade Star IV Was what got me into true tea. I still have about 15g I'm saving. JS V was a bit of a miss for me, tast almost exactly like Mid-Summer lightshow. BUT THIS! Jade Star VII is SPOT ON!

Just replenished some of the favorites with an order last night, well, here's to 2 orders in two days! missed the last Jade Star!

I'm in Camden tomorrow. Guess I'll be taking a walk along the High Street for a couple of cakes.

i wish i could have tonged this one when it was still avalible tbh. JS7 is my 2nd fave aged white that i've had (favorite was one from 1993, not really comparable hehe), I've drank though most of my cake and now its almost out of stock; picking up another one ASAP before its out!

No offense meant by this but does anyone else taste a million different things like Don does? I got some Luminary Misfit and either I’m doing something wrong or I can’t taste teas. I’ve only been doing this for a short while but I don’t get anything remotely fruity with LM.

A part of it does come from experience and having a lot of tea. Consider it like how fine Wine, or coffee will also have distinct notes and flavors to them. They will all taste like the thing they are supposed to (in this case tea will taste like tea.) The notes are often subtle. The expierence is picking out specifics of how it is "sweet" whether it is fruits, candies, baked dessert, etc. What kinds of "fruity" notes, berries and stonefruit can be vague, raspberries and plumb can be specific. I do not taste nearly as many things as Don points out, but I can get general notes for most teas and can tell a distinct difference between 2 of the same type. Keep drinking tea, and eat as much variety of food as you can and think about the flavors while you do. (It will also vary from person to person) Also you do not need to overthink it and can just enjoy the tea.

Everyone tastes different things, and some vendors forgo taste notes altogether for this very reason. Personally, it's a yes and no for me. There are some teas that I think taste different than what he says they taste like, but there are some where he is pretty spot on (Peony Chirps somehow tasting like a HK milk tea) to me.

Try different water. I didn't taste and smell much from white teas until I bought filtration pitcher. (completely unrelated to tea, we got rust and mud in water after pipe repairs)

Water quality plays a big role. I'm lucky to have decent tap but still could get more flavor if I got a Berkey filter but everything I've had from Mei Leaf has been great. Definitely can get the flavors in the descriptions on the label for sure

Tasting is highly subjective and everyone picks up different things in taste. I'm new to tea as well but just enjoy the process of tasting different kinds of teas and building up my tasting notes. I'm no way near as accurate but try to enjoy the process and don't think about tasting notes as much ☺️ in time we'll be better!

I'm glad to see the beautiful table again, is there a reason you are using the waste bowl on the side?

Just had this tonight. I admit I was hoping for a more robust experience especially after watching this. I got sweet notes similar to Lipton and it’s light. I will try again tomorrow.

Brewed again this morning and had a different experience with a fresher palate. Important to not have any greasy, oily, or salty foods before this. More pleasant honey and floral notes coming through. Slight biscuit and nougat coming through compared to yesterday.

He has a vid on breaking up entire cakes aged for more than 5 years to mix the dryer outer leaves with dense and less dry inner tea leaves/buds, else good to chip off.

What tea can one have for a good sleep?

How do i purchase from you guys? I'd love to try a new tea. I was recently living in Shanghai and was turned on to a good tea service and Anji bai cha. I think I'd love this one, also.

​@@MeiLeaf I keep getting confused when Don says he tastes sherbet in teas. In the USA, sherbet is frozen fruit juice, cream, and skimmed milk, similar to sorbet. Now I realize he is describing fizzy candy, not light ice cream!
