IT'S FINALLY FINISHED! Resin Mehrunes' Razor Dagger | SKYRIM

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Bill made this Mehrunes' Razor kit 7 years ago for a commission but never made one for himself! Now it's finally time to clean up this kit and give a coat of paint so it can join Bill's growing collection of Skyrim daggers!

Bill, I hope you see this as I owe you a Thank You. I collect replica props from various sci-fi shows and was recently re-watching Stargate: Atlantis and noticed the characters doing martial arts practice with "Bantos Rods" and thought I'd like to acquire a pair. After some internet searching I found nothing for sale. Oh well, no big deal.... Then I realized, "Hey, I can MAKE them. Bill showed me the process". I took some screenshots from the series, found pics of the real props (the site also mentioned the rods length and other general info not see in pics), wooden dowels I already had, paint I already had, bought some foam and glue. A week later, I had 2 very accurate Bantos Rods for maybe $20 in materials. Thanks to the info your videos.

About 17 years for my longest project. Was into anime garage kits back in the late 90s when I was in high school. Last kit I had was of Major Kusanagi from Ghost In The Shell. Had some issue with the primer I was using really not liking the resin she was cast with. Wasn't able to figure out a solution before I graduated HS and left for college. Rediscovered her in a box in my mom's garage when I was home for Thanksgiving about three years ago, decided to finally get her painted. Been back into hobby painting since.

I have a "Mopkin" puppet that I've had since I was about 12 and I'm 38 now. I'd been intending to work on it since I got it, 26 years now, and I just now got around to disassembling and upgrading it. I cut off the head to add a neck with a different material, removed the arms and legs and re-stuffed them. Stuffed the body that was just an open sleeve, reattached the arms and legs now with hanger wire for "bones," so I could add joints, changed the shape of the hands and feet and put magnets in the feet. Also added a sleeve that goes in the back through the neck into the head. The only thing machine sewn is the shape of the sleeve, everything else is hand sewn. Right now I'm working on the eyes and adding upper eyelids. When it's done it will keep my nieces and nephew entertained, at least until they're older.

I actually have one of these kits that I bought from you in 2012 (according to the emails I saved), and I painted it up back then. I wish I had thought of using 5-min epoxy on the pommel since whatever my past newbie self tried did not have a nice, glassy finish like I wanted. Nothing says I can't do it now though! my longest-standing project that needs to get done is a suit of mail armor that I have been working on for the last 8 years...If you count the things I have patterns I made and never got around to actually making the item then its 15 + years lol. Granted those old patterns were canceled commissions when people realized making things cost more money then they think it will.

Not sure if you have heard this before. My mom is in a quilt guild and they call unfinished projects 'UFO' for UnFinished Object. Lol had to share that tidbit. Also I have a set of motorcycle grips and bits of cut PVC I intended to turn into a custom lightsaber back in 2008/09. At least 10 years sitting on the back burner. Lol

I can't be sure of the exact timeframe but somewhere around...10-15 years ago I decided I wanted to make a Jedi costume. I bought boots, I sewed a cloak, shortly after that I made my own lightsaber hilt, then I started on the robes, made the first part way too big and then just completely stalled. I still have it all in my "finish this someday" pile.

i know its not really in context here but i was watching a video where you had to cut circles in EVA foam... heres my trick: get an empty tin can and sharpen its edge. mount it on a bolt in the center of it back and then on a press drill. i suggest you put some holes in the back too to allow air to escape and push the cut pieces out. PERFECT CIRCLES !

You beat me by 1 year. I wanted to make a father's day gift for my dad by repainting a model toy mustang to match his new car. 6 years and 130,000 miles later, it's now my car and I finally finished it. The funny thing is the only reason I did it was to clean out a toolbox it had sat in for years in an effort to reorganize my maker space.
