    Even as a German, when talking about modern cars like this Audi, I have to agree that such "perfect" vehicles, stuffed with incredible figures and features, which I have to admit being great, have no soul at all. This being said at least according to to my personal feelings. Thus I prefer an American classic instead, with all its imperfections, but with a soul instead. I also totally agree with You in probably rather driving a Cordoba, or a 1975 Buick Regal as in my particular case. Love your videos by the way.

    Not to be intentionally rude but the worst things about modern German cars is their unreliability, especially after a few years when the technology starts to break down. But I'm British, and we don't even have a car industry any more 😂

    @footballcoreano Your comment made me laugh. I am part German and part British, and I’m in a long term relationship with someone from Italy but still entirely disagree with your triggered comment. There is no such thing as a country or brand that only produces excellent and reliable cars with high technology. I own several German vehicles, enjoy all of them but not all of them are great or better than cars from other countries. Just keep calm and let everyone have their opinion my friend. Have a great day.

    It's weird having you review an almost new car. You see just how far modern vehicles have evolved with electronics, safety equipment, engine technology, etc. versus those classic Malaise Era cars. I know that modern cars are better in every way but I still feel the nostalgic pull of those Nixon-Ford-Carter era cars. They had soul despite their many issues.

    Bill, I just turned 50. My first car in '89 was a brown 78 Olds Cutlass with a 4 barrel 305 V8. Rear bumper was falling off due to rust, headliner falling down, kept tearing through U-joints as a 16 year old I'd slam it into reverse then drive again to burn the tires. I've been driving Audis for a while now. Current car is a 545 HP V8 twin turbo tuned A8L. You can make these cars have some soul if you get the v8 ones and open up the exhaust. I had a local shop do a delete on the suitcase mufflers and put in exhaust cutouts. It's 3.5 seconds to 60, 11.5-11.6 to the 1/4 mile, and fits 5 adults comfortably with reclining rear seats & massagers all around. Driving that car with the windows down through a tunnel - yeah it's got a soul. Maybe a v8 is the bare minimum? I sure don't miss the 78 Olds, that's for sure.

  • @GustavoEBarriga
    @GustavoEBarriga2 жыл бұрын

    BTW, I think that what Bill was trying to explain about the soul of the car is that a car is an extension of the body that must communicate with you, I mean, isolation in a car is often hated for some drivers, an interior that is too quiet, an steering wheel that seems like a volumen button in a radio, pedal, shifts, etc.

    I always found the German cars had much more soul than the Japanese and even most of the American cars from the 80s all the way to the mid 2000s... Now they all seem a bit soulless. The reason they seem soulless is because they are perfection.. everything is as close to perfect as possible.

The traction from that type of AWD is awesome. Early Christmas morning during snow and freezing rain I was enjoying the Christmas lights on a farm house when I saw what I thought was a reindeer decoration awfully close to the side of the road, it was a eight point Buck, I freaked out and swerved into the other lane just missing the ccksucker, thank god for the Twinster AWD and Bridgestone Blizzaks , I never lost traction while accelerating 🙏🏻Happy New Year everyone

    You can also do an exclusive color and pick any of their colors they have in VW group. Lots to choose from. That green they have is awesome though. They have 5 different greens.

    I’d say that Audi does have a soul. If I could compare it to a person that would be an introvert and disciplined perfectionist. Not a person with whom I’d go for a concert but a reliable coworker. BTW. Overall great review anyway!

    Yes agreed and BMWs especially the M series is the complete opposite. Loud, bombastic and in your face, which is exactly why prefer Audis. Much more a gentleman’s car..

    First off I want to say that you brighten up my day when I watch your videos. Second off… I totally agree with you. I owned a 2020 A5 cabriolet and though I liked it, the thing felt like a robot to drive. We need to get back to the good old days and make the driver be the one that controls the car!

    Bill hits the nail on the head. I always wanted to like this car - thought it might be cool, but if I owned it, I would have to get license plates that say “MEH”. Why is that? The numbers are simply amazing. But for the money, I would just get the Cordoba, and drop a Hellcat mill under the hood. Now that would be a hoot!
