It's Done, but there's an issue! - Tamiya Dancing Rider T3-01

The Tamiya T3-01 Dancing Rider is one of the daftest, weirdest and most unique models on the market. On paper, this little RC trike doesn't look much good, with a high centre of gravity, poor spec and a tiny brushed motor. I love it! It's just Tamiya being Tamiya!
However, having just built mine, there is a problem...

    Aha! So, there is an adjustable link arm kit (part number 54845), which will allow me to adjust the link length and align the servo saver and gearbox. However, if someone can come up with a reason why the standard parts aren't behaving, I'd still love to know! Cheers.

    It's like the Tamiya servo spline is a few mm different position compared to other brands, so the length of the arm is off by a few mm.

    The Tamiya adjustable rod includes a permanent mount for the balance rod. It'll stop popping off.

    Everything for the T3-01 is on sale at the main Tamiya USA site, so I just finished saving all kinds of money by spending a shiz-ton of money (?) buying Hop Up parts for a Dual Rider that isn't even here yet. Thanks again, Mike, I _just_ finished the King Yellow you _explicitly_ instructed me to buy, and now this... Make room, shelf queens, a trike is inbound!

    Can you please upload an update film to show how the 54845 is placed? Also, do you think additional hop-ups are of interest, e.g. 54843 or 54835 ? Thanks for the great review and I'm looking fwd for a followup on this cool most Tamiya ever.

    This is one of my favourite Tamiyas! I have a standard and a modified one with a brushless motor and they are huge fun! A few of us race them from time to time on our local carpet track and we have so much fun with them :)

    I use a small heat gun (came with an Amazon heat shrink tubing kit) and soapy water to apply decals. The King Yellow was rough with this problem, especially the large stickers that lay over the side windows. For the tough ones, my advice is to move the air bubbles to make one or two large bubbles, and pop it with a pin or a hobby knife. It's easier to move the air around after you heat it up a bit - just remember to not go too hot (keep a finger next to the sticker while you heat, don't burn yourself and you shouldn't hurt the sticker either)

    I use more or less the same approach but with a cheap hair dryer I purchased just for putting on RC car decals, after being told off for miss use of a much more expensive one :-) . I also find it helps the decals to stretch over curves better which helps a lot with headlight and tail light decals.

    @@douglasv4266 Bro, you're not kidding - the King Yellow school bus had... carry the 5... 12 domes for light stickers, I couldn't imagine life without the heat! This SOB (with love Mike) started me down a rabbit hole, I'm pretty sure I watched every T3-01 video in the known galaxy. Just got a gift card from work, so had to pull the trigger on this thing's sexy twin sister, the Dual Rider, and all the hop ups I thought should be slapped on. At least this one will be easier to -hide- explain to my significant other :)

    You'll end up with lots of gravel rash on the nerf bars and the roof edges of the shell, so don't sweat the stickers lifting/wrinkling as they get grated off.

    Came out looking cool Mike. Sorry no insight into the servo issue as never built one. With regards the decals, try using a hair dryer to warm them up to make them more pliable, heat also helps the glue stick better

    I agree that it's one of the more unusual r/c's from Tamiya. I have seen videos of races with these contraptions and it looked like a lot of fun. Is it possible to mount the servo horn so it's slightly off center, but the outriggers are centered? They make an aluminum servo horn that may be slightly different. I like the color you chose. The rider looks very good.

  • @rcinhand9671
    @rcinhand96716 ай бұрын

    The servo saver is not centered because you're using a 25 tooth servo and saver. They will never be centered due to the odd numbered teeth. Get the adjustable arm, or use a 24 tooth servo.
