Because he is the best and most experienced actor on the show lol. I'm not saying the others aren't good but they aren't Danny DeVito level acting good. And I'm also not saying that Danny DeVito is an amazing actor but he's been around long enough to be able to stay in character 99% of the time while filming these scenes.

He's so naturally talented at doing insane and hilarious things too. His timing at 26:10 on "then AIDS ruined everything" is absolutely perfect. On the podcast they talk about the scene where he's drinking the beer out on the street talking to Mac and they noticed he ACTUALLY swallows the beer and vomits it up for the bit.

You’re a lot more replaceable as an extra, so if you keep interrupting the scene by laughing (when the main cast isn’t), there’s a fear they could boot you and cycle in the next person.

I think it's because the boys aren't really trained actors, they were more writers before Sunny. Everyone else, Danny, Kaitlin, the extras, they all had prior experience acting/training (presumably, there's prob some exceptions)

I absolutely love how at 9:00 you can tell that the "I don't think he gets us man" was completely ad-libbed (I know much of their stuff is ad-libbed), but you can really see how the line took Glenn off guard and he loses it. Then, the next take you see that they must've had one of those "oh yeah, that line needs to stay in there" moments because that's what we see, and what made it into the final cut.

The best part about the interview scene is that some prop designer wrote the resume and none of the cast had seen it before they started shooting, so every time Michael Naughton read a line on the CV it was the first time they were hearing it.

Because he is the best and most experienced actor on the show lol. I'm not saying the others aren't good but they aren't Danny DeVito level acting good. And I'm also not saying that Danny DeVito is an amazing actor but he's been around long enough to be able to stay in character 99% of the time while filming these scenes.

Back around the time Taxi came out, time and film were really valuable so like other actors in his era, he learned to stay straight faced
Danny is such a master at controlling his laughter while delivering his lines so perfectly.

He's so naturally talented at doing insane and hilarious things too. His timing at 26:10 on "then AIDS ruined everything" is absolutely perfect. On the podcast they talk about the scene where he's drinking the beer out on the street talking to Mac and they noticed he ACTUALLY swallows the beer and vomits it up for the bit.

He comes from the days when movies and shows were actually recorded on film, so there wasn’t much room to mess around. You had to make the most of each take.
I love the fact that they laugh at Charlie's illiteracy so much irl that they just wrote it more and more into the show

You’re a lot more replaceable as an extra, so if you keep interrupting the scene by laughing (when the main cast isn’t), there’s a fear they could boot you and cycle in the next person.

I think it's because the boys aren't really trained actors, they were more writers before Sunny. Everyone else, Danny, Kaitlin, the extras, they all had prior experience acting/training (presumably, there's prob some exceptions)

Boss Hogg sure couldn't catch dem Duke boys, but he knows how to drink beer.
I absolutely love how at 9:00 you can tell that the "I don't think he gets us man" was completely ad-libbed (I know much of their stuff is ad-libbed), but you can really see how the line took Glenn off guard and he loses it. Then, the next take you see that they must've had one of those "oh yeah, that line needs to stay in there" moments because that's what we see, and what made it into the final cut.
17:10 I love seeing Kaitlin break since she's usually the best at staying straight. Hornsby is just too damn funny.

The best part about the interview scene is that some prop designer wrote the resume and none of the cast had seen it before they started shooting, so every time Michael Naughton read a line on the CV it was the first time they were hearing it.

What really amazes me is how many unique jokes this show has had over the years, and seeing the different possible deliveries for them
Danny's out takes are the best. He hardly ever breaks and knows how to play a funny straight scene. I often crack up watching the episodes just watching franks expressions.
It's refreshing to know that the gang felt this shit was as frieking funny as I did and do. Can you imagine sitting next to Charlie as he says our butts will be "so filled, so filled for you" in that tone without breaking down laughing?
The “I have sleep apnea BUT YOURE AWAKE” absolutely killed me I’ve never sat down to watch this show but I’m beginning to think I’ll fucking love it
