I agree, I like this aspect! UVI Falcon has basically the same kind of concept, and can add as many different oscillators and filters and effects as your CPU can handle.

If your not aware, there have been a few updates to PhasePlant since the version featured in the video. If you haven’t done that, you might want to update! They added more unison functionality and its reaaaaly cool

Super cool to see the samples I created for the Phase Plant library being used so beautifully on Polychrome! Really nice work, Andrew 🙏

I love all these sounds! I can hear whole songs every time Andrew changes a preset and plays some notes. It's sooo cool!

that last patch was beautiful!! lovely chords too!

Other alternatives for people who want to design their own synths: - Native Instruments Reaktor - Outsim Synthmaker These two came to mind right away. This looks really streamlined and easy to use though!

I agree on Reaktor, but it can get rather tinkery. UVI Falcon is I think a little closer in concept and interface to Phase Plant. I like Phase Plant for the audio rate modulation, but I like the sound of some of Falcons filters better (which sound more analog to me) and effects better than Phase Plants (which sound a bit more sterile).

From what I've heard, UVI Falcon allows you to do whatever routing/etc. you want... Though that being said, it seems UVI want nobody to buy their product since they don't offer a demo version

Bitwigs Polygrid is the real deal for me

It’s so pedagogical! This was the first video you’ve ever done where I feel like I really “understood” synthesis.

I like the layout. Soft synths usually look so cluttered and confusing even at default preset, because they have all the oscillators, filters, lfos and envelopes there even when you are not using them. With this, it seems that you only have on table what you are actually using, hence you also know what each piece does.

I’m glad you’re finally doing a video on this. I’ve been using phaseplant for a while and I love it.

This is awesome Andrew and KH. Happy to have your presets alongside my factory presets. I love Phase Plant since day one, it's a true best of an instrument!!

I'm surprised with the fact that phaseplant is such a beast and yet not that many producer use it

This synth looks incredible. And those presets you made... wow. Just wow. So cool.

Oh my, Andrew, that Dreamy Keys preset is gorgeous. I could listen to that forever. If you made a track with it, a la Tv & Video Games, I'd be over the moon.

I agree! It’s awesome! The only thing that keeps making me choose Serum is the amount of presets I have and are able to get when there’s a need for it. Make more phase plant presets that is just great to use in normal productions. It’s cool with fancy stuff that sounds like aliens, but it’s even cooler with great sounds for songwriting.

And you didn't even talk about the fact that you can play SPACE INVADERS inside the vst

The possibilities with this are totally mind blowing! Love how clear your demonstrations are - great to see it in action. I may have to invest... 😆

Oh NOOOooooo!!!!!! I missed the deal on this incredible synth. Fantastic job Andrew, while watching this I had a smile all the way through. I was reminded of the joy I had creating sounds when I first started making music.

I feel like post 2019, Phaseplant and Pigments 2 are top dogs right now. They set the bar so high, we may just have to come up with a new form of sound synthesis just to outdo them.

The longer this went on, the further my jaw dropped lol That's an insane amount of control.

So awesome to see you get behind Phase Plant, been using it since March and it made instant sense to me (and I'm not that experienced at synthesis relatively!)

Always such clarity in your overviews Andrew.... this is bananas... I slept on this, even when you posted this eons ago, but I think I will go for it, whilst the PP V2 sale is on too..

Really hard not to love Kilohearts plugins. Phase Plant is by far my favourite soft synth, so many features you didn't even have time in your video to get around to the deep LFO and wavetable editors!

UVI Falcon 2 does everything here and more, but this does have a more friendly user interface, I'll give you that .

How can one guy be so talented at music and video production?

After getting the full Phase Plant package last Black Friday, I ended up using the individual snap-ins more than Phase Plant itself but this video gives me some inspiration to give it a go again.

Ill be honest... I had a trial with this synth, amazing sound, but it took me a while to get the best and most of it... thank you Andrew for making it simpler :)

I'm living for these "Silent Huang" cameos.

6:44 So it's like FM synthesis but for any parameter. HOLY

Fast forward to the v2 update, it really is the best. In sheer depth of sound design, Phase Plant wins hands down. In overall versatility, it's a bit of a fight with pigments 3.5 imo. It's such an exciting time to be a synth enthusiast.

The only other products you can really compare to Phaseplant, is Reaktor, Falcon, or Bitwig. Pigments is not even close.

@@pnutbuttajellee1394 I disagree, Pigments has an incredible depth for sound design as you have granular/additive/wavetable/analog/sampling for sound sources as well as a robust system for modulations. They are more comparable to each other than PP is to Reaktor/Falcon/The Grid imo as those require a lot more nuts and bolts patching work to get going.

Thank god people finally start talking about it. Got mine a while back, and it's pretty much the only thing i've been using since. Only thing that's not so great is the lack of 3rd party presets out there, because this synth is so massively underrated.

Phaseplant reminds me of u-he Zebra.

Other nice features: You can put Multipass and Snapheap as snapins in the effect chains and can nest them infinitely - this way you can have infinite parallel effect chains and dynamic multiband processing. You can also use the "modulator" Wavetables to have bend modes like in serum. You can even create and keyframe-animate your own Wavetables. You can FM samples with samples. With the loop options in the sampler you can have the looped section move along the sample over time for granular-like synthesis. You can use the Wavetable editor to do additive synthesis - you can copy just the phases from Wavetable to Wavetable and much much more. Kilohearts is awesome! Buy the full Toolbox - the tool family works so nicely together.

So I compared the saw wave of Phase Plant vs Serums and IMO, PP's sounds cleaner and thicker

You can do granular of a sort. Use the sample sound source and set a really narrow envelope. There's a few videos about it right here on youtube

Surprisingly I discovered it yesterday The ability to work with each individual harmony is amazing I recently work on creating a plugin synth that will let you control each harmony of the wave and more!

I love Kilohearts, phaseplant and multipass were God sends for sound design for me. Especially when you are trying to make neurofunk.

100% agree! I also use other synth plugins, some of them just have their own character. But for me PhasePlant is the ultimate sound design machine! As a big fan of Multipass and Synth Freak, I of course had to buy it straight away. I have never regretted it and am happy every time I use it!

Sold! Just signed up for their monthly subscription.
