@@SciFiScavenger lol I’ve hyped it so much. just be prepared for a sort of fever dream like quality to it, it’s hard to explain. It either grabs you or it doesn’t but I’ll stand by it’s my second fav currently ongoing series after sun eater
I rarely find time to comment any more (as much as it saddens me) but I never miss a chance to watch your videos. This was a fun and creative idea to pick a TBR. I will be borrowing this idea if that is okay. Awesome idea.

Just one more thing...😂 Ms. LeGuin passed away in 2018. I'm currently waiting for the Best Fantasy and Science Fiction of the Year volume 13 to go on sale to read the very last Earthsea short story, "Firelight", which features the deathbed of Ged. Published posthumously, it's supposed to be excellent, and a fitting wrap up to her most famous series.😢😭❤

@@SciFiScavenger Got a suggestion for the next cover art episode. Michael Whelan. Everyone who's ever browsed a science fiction paperback has seen his incomparable artwork. 🙂😉

@@User_Un_Friendly I used to really like MW's covers, even bought 3 books and a 1996 calendar, but then something changed, and I started finding his art a bit bland. Maybe not helped by him using himself & his wife as figure models so often. Nowadays I prefer artists like Don Maitz, & Stephan Martiniere, both of which would be good subjects for a video.
Ambitious quantity of reading, SFS, for such a month as May. I say this because, in my own universe, I tend to put the books down and move all my activities outside. But then again, I don't live in the UK, where the weather is typically inclement! I've just completed re-reading Mindbridge by Haldeman this past week coincidentally. Not bad at all. Another fine presentation sir. Cheers.

Cheers Rick, thanks for watching 👀!
K W Jeter's "Blade Runner 2" was a good choice. I often wished they'd chosen *this* as the movie sequel to Ridley Scott's masterpiece than what we ended up with. In fact, I'm tempted to re-read this one myself. 😉

Hi Andrew, yes I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks for watching 👀!
I had been thinking about doing this with my own TBR shelf. Seems to work pretty well! Though, I'd have to do books, not shelves, since my collection is small.

I considered doing bingo for shelves then also for the books on those shelves. Too fiddly i think. I might introduce some new rules next time. Thanks for watching 👀!
You should have picked up Unto Leviathan. It's a brilliant and very dark generation starship novel with aliens that are truly alien and really, really scary. Benford's novel is pretty weak, but it needs to be read for the sequels that are much, much better. Particulary Great Sky River, wich is one of his best novels.

I almost picked it. Next time perhaps! Thanks for watching 👀.
The Blade Runner sequels of K.W. Jeter are not connected to the movie sequel, as far as I know. I have book 2 on my shelf too, maybe I should read it this month. I also have FAREWELL HORIZONTAL, which seems to be an interesting cyberpunk novel, but I haven’t read that either. … And I need to hunt down the GAP series, thanks for reminding me 😉

I hear good things. Thanks for watching 👀!
I don't think I've read any of the novels you've chosen... but some interesting choices in there, like the collection of Yoon Ha Lee and the MacLeod novel, have read others by him and even met him in Edinburgh at the book festival in 2017 and also had "Emergence" of the Corporation Wars signed by him... I saw you decided not to pick "Fallen Dragon", I thought it was a really good stand-alone by Peter F. Hamilton myself. As for Blake Crouch, he actually happens to have moved to my select list of authors to not read anymore after I added "Upgrade" to my collection and was severely disappointed by his storytelling after having read it... I am considering however to watch the tv show "Dark Matter" based on the novel you're going to read... wouldn't be the first time a certain type of storytelling does work for me on the screen when it doesn't on pages.

Hi Andrew, I'm increasingly becoming a fan of MacLeod's work. I'll get to Fallen Dragon at some point I expect. Thanks for watching 👀
Liked your method, Jon, very original! Didn't agree with some of your picks, though. I mean, you skipped Simaks and Silverbergs and chose this newbie...too bad, imo. But I read the Haldeman book Mindbridge many years ago and thought it was excellent. Wonder what your verdict will be on the McCaffreys...

@@SciFiScavenger AAaaaaaaaaaaw They are so cute until they sharpen their claws on Jacques Cousteau's The Silent World. The thing is there's plenty of dog eared paperbacks around and a sofa, why pick a near-mint hardback?
I noticed you had Restoree on your McCaffrey shelf. It's very good, and interestingly, it's early in her career. Unusual narrative style, can be disconcerting to her long time fans. As for the rest of the McCaffreys, most of her Dragon books after the first 3 are not that great. Aside from Dragon Flight, Dragon Quest, and the White Dragon, you can safely miss them, as the quality goes downhill. Do read the Dragonsong, and Dragonsinger books. Young Adult, but I've loved them since high school. 😉🙂 Dragon Quest is very good. Better in many ways than Dragon Flight. As an interesting tie in, Dragonsinger has the traumatic events in Dragon Quest as seen by the Harper Hall. 😳
