About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.

Get the sterl roof repaired, it will bind the whole cab together structual integreity of the cab will be a lot healthier than a fiberglass replacement. Also hope your considering putting a diesel back into it, look at an 1hdfte from a 100 series or even a 4jj isuzu. My 2 cents worth

Cheers for the tips Stuart. We have ordered a fibreglass one for now but will be keeping the steel one it was just going to be be way to much to fix and way out of our skill set it will be put in storage for now and when another one pops up I’ll be straight onto it! As for the motor would love to convert it but the old man loves his old 350 chev!

hey guys, good thing with the 40's is they're all bolted together 👍😁, in the workshop tour you didn't show us the coffee machine hahahahhh on the winch - the Thomas was benchmark of winch's in it's day, it's from the same era so good to keep it so it matches the truck, what you have is a 12vt 8000lb worm drive, so no need for a brake - super easy to restore/repair and almost bomb proof - max you might need to do is get the motor rewound and change the oil, looking real good guys. cheers

Megan is such a project manager 😁Your FJ has a wicked stance already. Love its looks while it was sitting outside waiting for the tow truck. TIP: Make sure you take lots of photos before pulling things apart, they you have a reference when putting things back together - paying special attention to all the fasteners/bolts etc. Plus try pre-lubing (ie. WD40) all the nuts and bolts you plan to remove before hand. It could make removing them easier. 👍

Seen a few “glorified” rebuilds of these. Quite cool that your’ll are taking it a step at a time, it gives the viewer a chance to appreciate the process as well. Was quite surprising to see how modular the body panels were - the roof was just bolted on :D. It is a reminder of Toyota’s robust nature/ heritage which some folk question in this day when compared to newer models. Regarding the cab / rollcage barwork - personally I felt it hid the body, looked so much better without it, I think it makes sense to keep the bull bar. Also wasn’t sure about the winch, looks huge and really heavy - if budget allows, I would change the winch. At the end of the day it depends on the look/ functionality you going for. Enjoying this series of vids, keep them coming!
