IT IS HAPPENING: Russia & Mali sign memorandums on construction of nuclear power plant in Mali

On July 2nd 2024, a Russian delegation that was led by Nikolay Nikolaevich Spasski, who is the Deputy Director of Rosatom met the Malian Transitional President Colonel Assimi Goita in Bamako, for among other things discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Mali and Russia in the field of renewable energies and particularly wind and nuclear energy.
The same being a meeting that was held at the Presidential palace after a working session that was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in which the Malians and the Russians signed three memorandums of understanding relating to the development of Mali's nuclear sector.
With the first memorandum concerning cooperation in the evaluation and development of nuclear infrastructure in Mali, the second one concerning the training of Malian executives in the field of the nuclear industry and related fields, and the third one relating to public awareness in the context of the use of nuclear energy, for domestic and industrial purposes and in such related fields.

    This can be considered as fast-tracking. Construction for the ones in Egypt began in 2022 and completion is expected in 2031. In Bangladesh, construction began in 2017 and is scheduled to be completed in 2024. It takes time
