  • @andrewamann2821

    @andrewamann2821

    2 жыл бұрын

    Articulation comes with some pretty sizable tradeoffs, especially when you're casting all of your parts in silicone molds. Concave right angles can, and frequently do, cause some pretty notable tear out issues, for instance, doubly so if you're trying to manage a hole that's deeper than it is wide. Unlike styrene, which is cast in a natively rigid mold, silicone resin molds will flex, if not properly designed, under the weight of the resin being poured into it. There are ways to compensate, but resin casting in a silicone mold isn't nearly as precise as you would need it to be to accomplish reasonable articulation.

    @@mortisCZ you're not wrong about the bulk production part of GW's plastic... That's done with a simple (in theory, the finer points of engineering a copper-alloy mold can be a bit tricky, putting aside material cost, the labor to produce that first mold is gonna be pricey...) injection molding setup. That said, ForgeWorld has never been a particularly large-volume operation, and epoxy resin just doesn't spin cast (standard method for pewter and white metal models... and finecast...) very well. As far as being a professional, I'm really not one, either, I'm just a scutwork monkey in an engineering department, with a curiosity about how things are made, and a habit of asking the right questions of the right people, when I happen to cross paths with them.

    Using Allen head screws instead of drywall screws makes it look so much more realistic. If you see them you can pass it off as a massive bolt meant to hold things together instead of "hey look it's a drywall screw" because big ships and stuff do actually have massive Allen head screws holding things together at times.

    Eons of Battle recently uploaded a video building and painting an imperial knight. In the painting section he used black and white primer to pre shade/highlight the panels then proceeded to glaze with he desire color combination, this achieve a very good final color without an overwhelming amount of blending I really suggest you give it a watch just in case you didn't know about this technique. Anyway back and teal (or light blue teal) really work well, however you may need to consider the metallic trim in the armour first (if you're gonna paint it like that) to then decide your color wheel.one of the most striking features though is usually the diamond/stripes pattern usually seen in this titans and that requires stencils for sure, hope this helped a little bit at least.

Paint scheme should be the Midwinter minis color palette and silver. Do the regular steel, copper, and greys for the main part's on the body, but make the armor panels have silver edges, the leg panels black and blue in a pattern of your choice, and the shoulder armor be the blue, rest of the armor black, and the head white.

    I'd suggest a heraldry that could have something to do with WINTER e.g. cold blues on some sections. Maybe half of the armour panel is a cold blue, mayhap with an ice effect and a white/black for the other half, maybe even quartering them. Also, the banner could be a Midwinter Minis symbol and then the names of the patreon supporters.

    Really enjoying this project. "This titan is theirs as much as mine, just not in a legally binding way" 😂😂 Seeing it near completion I can finally get a sense of how big it is. It looks like you are making a new robot child! 🤖

    amazing project, can't wait for you to finish, I think that the titan would look best with a blood angels paint job + custom transfers with the patreon supporters name on them!!!!1

    This is coming together SO nicely!. It's been amazing to follow this adventure from the beginning, it's going to take more than a whole bottle of wash/streak and grime at the end for sure! Keep up the great work bud, I always look forward to your videos.

    To make the arms easily changeable without using magnets, you couldve installed a nut and washer inside the upper arm joint and then run a bolt supported by a large washer through the shoulder portion. Then magnetize the shoulder armor pieces so you can easily access the bolt. Bonus perk of bolting it together, is you can loosen the bolt, adjust the angle to a desired position, and then tighten it in place. Or leave it slightly loose so the arms can turn 🤷‍♂️

    You should really go for a winter scheme of cold whites and blues for the Titan, would fit into the theme of Midwinter Minis

    A book featuring the various assassins vs the inner workings of knight households....yes please ! Currently repainting the plasma coils on the sunfury annihilator as my first attempt was good but i can do better. I do not envy anyone having to build one, its fun to do it once but the biggest id go in the future is the Reaver

    The drywall screw is a great idea on parts like that. Have 2 warhounds and 1 reaver. Thought maybe one more big one but so many parts and time could be an issue
