Join me and the boys as we prep and paint operation "Fatty River", a Jon boat we have been restoring. It's time for paint! Let's see if it sticks...

Looking good. Looks like a fun project for sure.

I sanded my entire jon boat down to bare metal. If there’s any dirt or old paint left anywhere the new paint will peel off after a while. I learned the hard way after painting a different boat.

I have done one before like that and its a LOT of work as you know. I did that for a "primary" boat. This really is just budget spare river boat. I put that time into by 17CC and it was worth it. Thanks for watching

Looks great! I used the same paint 6 years ago and it's holding up well, seems like the fully cure time was a couple of weeks, well worth the extra $, I've been down the road of spray cans, they aren't worth a darn compared to dura-lux.

This is encouraging! I did a fingernail test next day and 2 weeks later and it was certainly stronger.

Did a shade more prep on my boat shot a coat of auto prime on entire boat. I did spray mine added reducer and a hardener.i added alot of hardener. Its hard as a frigging brick bat. Did the bottom 1/3 with bed liner for the rocks and sand on jordan and falls. The bedliner has come off before the duralux.

Great to know, I am curious to see how it does on the rocks. Place I like to fish is shallow and full of rocks, we shall see!

The ducks will never see the boat until it’s too late.

I love the #17 jersey. One of our legends. Just wondering if Tucker's name also comes from NCSU?

it probably would of stuck if you sanded it down to the metal. ya its a lot of work. Painting Aluminum the surface really needs to be stripped well. so always except some flaking or peeling if not stripped down. ducks dont care lol
