What couldn't have happened always does & the end
Love all the movies from 30's and 40's wonderful stories and actors with brilliant work
Evelyn Brent makes it worth the time to watch this film.
Cannot get enough of these old b/w mysteries. Thank you for such great entertainment.
Just loved it flaws and all! Great snazzy dialogue -- " Is he dead?" "Lady no guy with a hole like that through his chest ever talked back to an undertaker." Thank you for sharing this gem.

I agree about Reginald Deny. He was a looker, he was.
Just love the old old mystery movies. And Charlie Chan movie. Can’t stop watching them.
Great little movie - funny, good acting, good mystery plot!
Brent's energy drove this film. La Rue was a huge plus. Mr. Denny, he needed Bulldog Drummond to show up!
Very, very Good, entertaining movie! I noticed Hugh Marlowe's first name was John in this film. Thank You,PizzaFlix for showing this movie!!
Witty and a mystery to boot. Worth it just for the wisecracks.

I'm so glad they made lots n lots of movies back then. They are so much better than modern film...
Directed by Phil Rosen. Love his films. He directed quite a few Charlie Chan movies with Sidney Toler and Mantan Moreland. His name as director ensures an enjoyable movie for me.
This was so much better than I expected. Fast paced and funny, good cast and decent script. Thanks, your choices are consistently enjoyable. :)
Really love your channel. Thank you for showing these wonderful old movies. So entertaining!
Interesting mention of the game Monopoly which was patented the year before this movie was made.
Wow! I'm so pleased! Another really great movie! Thanks
Brilliant movies on PF especially from the 30s-40s, don't watch TV no more better films on PF.
It's always a treat to see Jack LaRue. Thanks for sharing!

I have never understood why Jack La Rue never made it in the big movies. The man had outstanding stage presence.
Enjoyable mystery thanks for posting.
Thanks for sharing all these movies. I enjoy them and love this era of movies.
Oh what a lot of fun. Classic stuff.
I have not watched this film yet...wanted to comment about your channel and choices, I am pretty sure I will enjoy this film too, as I have enjoyed many you have been kind and patient enough to upload. I am so pleased you maintain minimal commercials if any in your mostly phenomenal choices of films. Thank you so much for not doing what many do...like the spotlight effect...or changing speed, or the aspect ratio. KUDOS TO PIZZAFLIX ROCK ON !

this is not for you millenial pot smoker. no need to comment today unless u watch
I see Hugh Marlowe (the playwright in “All About Eve 1950) is playing the “leading man in the play”, but was billed as “John Marlowe”! Wow!
Exhausting film - but adorable! My favorite line: "Would YOU MIND breathing through your NOSE?" (Were those folks coked up back in the Thirties? Sooooooo fast, eh?) Thank-you, as always, PF......... cheers
very nice movie! loved it!
What a fun movie. Thanks Pizza Flix for posting it for us to enjoy.
The opening credits are somewhat unusual for a 1936 movie, in that the Director was listed last. That didn't become standard in US films until 1940.
I love the fashions back then! The 30s, 40s and 50s had so much class...the suits, and hats...I wear suits and hats when I can, but we've become so casual, sloppy even. Now I see grown women in public...in their pajamas. We stopped caring about appearance. 😔 Edit: I love the furnishings too! Every room so lovely. Now tackiness is the norm. I like real wood, rich fabric sofas, chairs and drapes. I haunt the thrift stores for such things.
What an excellent, excellent movie.❤️
"And when he wakes up and tries to stretch his legs, he chokes himself to death. Suicide! Hahahahaha!" - Now, where have I heard of an impossible hanging more recently with a suicide verdict?
A cracking film. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

A good 🎥in a fine clear print 😀
I enjoyed this movie 🎥 very much, thank you for making it available. I love the old movies, between the 1930 - 1940. I didn't care too much for the '50 era. From then on seems like everything fell apart. Family structure, Moms weren't home anymore when kids got out of school. The 60's ☮️ (me included) were trying to find their heads. Wasn't that a crazy mixed up era. Well I finally found my head fortunately before my daughter was born, thank the Lord. Actually now that I'm thinking about it I love reading old books era 1800 thru the '40's. 🇺🇸
Just hd to watch this one. The story of my life in the title. Thank you, as always.

Sound was a bit rough but I listened with my headphones and was able to enjoy it.
While not a great film or an important film, this is ripe for restoration. I enjoyed it greatly.

Apart from the sound quality this was the most excellent scrip / plot - a great mixture of comedy and who Dunn it. That Linda stole the show but all the others were great. Once again you have not failed to entertain us. 👍🍀🙏
I wouldn't mind going back to the 1930's if I knew Evelyn Brent would be there waiting for me.
It's too bad the audio is so messed up. Managed to download a copy from internet archive, and turned on the equalizer in VLC to be able to hear the dialog. Overall pretty fun.
"I'd like to trade you in on a nightmare!!" Hahaaa!!
Thanks
Thank you for uploading.
Very good mystery.
most humorous and most smart. don't miss it.
Very good flick!
13:55 She has a smile that won't quit.
"Do you mind breathing through your nose?" LOL 🤣
Really good even with the meddling girl,👍👍👍
Love these films but have trouble on my pad cause the volume is so low on recording thanks for all these old films love it
Awesome show! Thanks!
Reginald was the fella on the train in Cat Ballou.
My mum was 21 when this was made she’d be 105!
Really liked this one--ty
Pity about the volume possibilities.
Remember Forrest Taylor? He played just about every middle-aged role there was. At about 1:05:32, you can see him as 'a younger man' (he was 53 years old!!) on the right side of the screen.
I noticed Hugh Marlowe as the young actor listed under a different first name. Handsome man. Reginald Denny is one of my favorites. Read his bio. Very smart and interesting man. I don’t care for Evelyn Brent and was amused at the “femme fatale.” That woman was no beauty. Jack LaRue is always fantastic. Really did enjoy this movie……thank you.
It took me a while to recognize 'John Marlowe', who later appeared as 'Hugh Marlowe' in sci-fi movies in the 1950's and 1960's.

This deserves restoration big time!

I like this funny and exciting movie.

That vintage Hammond Postal Telegraph wall clock is selling for $1,229. online. Wow! 😮
All interior shots, loping plot, a twist on the gangster showing (mild & mediocre), a surprise that Invincible Picture spun a higher quality tthan I expected. Thks for the entertainment.

HAHA, YES!!! You're exactly , Graeme! He said "lawyers cost money" implying that he didn't have any because they only gave him 2 opening night passes as payment for all his work. No wonder he wanted out of his contract! 💜
The name itself attracts me.
Anybody notice at the 15:14 mark of the movie he has the magazine upside down then the edit than it"s facing the right way 2 seconds later. They probably had a good laugh over that one.:)

Detective v crime writer to solve the murder. Game on! Could have been staged! No outdoor scenes! So that's what a hootenanny is!
Unfortunately the audio quality is so bad that I couldn't even discern which language was being spoken.

Cute.
great
At about 58:40 in the film, what would a city girl be doing with a single-action cowboy six-shooter, rather than the usual Smith & Wesson .38?
i think elvis plays a realy goood part

It's fine. Turn up the volume. I watched this without my hearing aids and heard the dialogue without any difficulty. Besides the movie is over 80 years old; lol it's a wee bit damaged.

S Douglas ... Too bad the audio is up and down, muffled and tainted by noise in the film's track. Can you possibly undo what the sound engineer/editor did 80 yrs ago?!😐😐 I added some bass tones but wasn't enough...the treble tones in the audio washed out the inflections of voices and, therefore, the words.
@rickkartisable

Hilary C ... It's not in the volume at all, Hillary Clinton. It's in a combination of the balances of the mics used, balance of bass/treble, the film's sound track itself (when recorded in the editing/transfer), plus yrs of damage to the sound track along the film itself.😕😕
