Players are actually shaming others in chat saying "What you can't afford $10? Sorry I'm not poor. Go get a job." They are literally shaming others for not being able to pay, not paying, or refusing to pay. Other players are claiming it is just "pay for convenience", there by rationalizing systems being designed to be intentionally inconvenient. The average player is too far gone.

@R'na grant From what I heared on youtube videos, 100% of the developers of Blizzard games have left the company. You might never see another functioning game from them. For me, I played pokemon starting the very first pokemon that came out, then, after playing each gen with each console that was needed for it, for 10 years, I decided to try a diffrent monster capture game and I have found a game for 35$ that does everything better than pokemon other than the graphics, I was drown in into a new univerce to explore with game mechanics completely diffrent and a lot of a new things I could try. Called Nexomon. Lord of the fallen is a game that is like dark souls but unlike dark souls is much easier, costs 5$ and make u feel powerful as oposed to feeling powerless like in dark souls. Levelhead is a game like mario maker which costs 40$ and does everything a 60$ games does, there are many many more examples, I played 3$ games that give me better game time than AAA ones.

Fact : the only game I haven't pirated in the last 15 years is Satisfactory. You have to go all the way back to the NOLF franchise to find the previous instance where I paid for a game. Games still came in boxes with manuals back then.

I thought Asmon and others paying to "Show how bad it is" was shitty at first, but other channels and some news outlets have been using his footage to show exactly how bad it is. People do need to see it in action to understand how scummy and disgusting it is.

One of the things in Immortal are 2 type of crests. You use them before dungeon which you complete them after 5min. Most important crest is only gained trough real money. Comparing f2p run vs someone using 10 crests it's insane. You won't see any legendaries for maybe 3-4 runs and get maybe 1 but with crests you literally get a "golden shower". There is already almost 1h video talking about whole game ant it's monetization. Some dude streamer spend 10k and didn't get a single gem he wanted. Why people support this shit is beyond me. It's not like we have a shortage of games where someone could easily find fun.

My closest friends love playing 2k20 and love buying cardpacks. The two of them collectively spent over $500 not including the full retail price they bought it for. They always beg me to play and I try my best to tell them what they’re doing is not only hurting themselves but the future of gaming, needless to say it didn’t work. 2k recently shut down the 2020 servers because obviously they want you to buy the new and “shiny” edition. So aaaaall their progress and money spent on card packs are now worth as much as a brick, and guess what? Now they bought 2k22 and are respending their money to get back to where they were. It’s absolutely infuriating to watch this happen to not only my friends but gamers in general. We gotta stop this shit guys.

You pull out your phone and show him a screenie of your diablo immortal char star screen... And then proceed to ask to borrow money off him cuz you spent your whole 100k and also "accidently" spent your rent money.

It's unbelievable that we live in a world where there's a game that would allow you to put around 100000$ in it. If the greed of modern video games was gone, we would be living in the greatest age for gaming. Greed is the reason for most of the problems that games have nowadays: companies want to have all the money in the world.

You know what makes this even more hilariously tragic? That's the cost to max out ONE of several characters. If you want to max out another class, that's ANOTHER $100-200k or 10 years of gameplay (fo free 🥴 ). Edit: I just checked Metacritic, and the user score is now at 0.4, making it even lower than WC3 Reforged. 👀

I will never truly understand the thought process for defending MTX. Sure some things are cool to buy and if you genuinely feel good about the purchase,great that is how consumerism works, but you cannot pretend that the way that things are marketed and developed today is normal. We lose the content from the game that we could have earned in game, things that could have added to the love and effort of developing the game. Instead, they slap on a price tag and paywall "content".

In a span of 15 years. The gaming industry has gone from shipping complete games with minimal DLC and zero to little in game micro transactions. To half completed games with day 1 patch fixes, year long DLC roadmaps, and in game micro transactions presented at every opportunity possible. What a time to be alive.

I raised the issue of loot boxes back in the day of SW BF2 and consulted people I know within one of the major news papers in Belgium. We made an article about this and a few months later the Belgian politics picked up on this and got it banned! Still proud of this victory and the impact it even had on the stock of EA. (Which is illegal according to EU law.) So if you live in the Netherlands/Belgium, you can play games like Lost Ark without risking getting banned, but not buy them. It's a weird loophole.

Either your commenters are just lazy or they haven't played the game. There is no paywall for leveling. You don't get more xp for spending money. You can get to lvl 60 as fast as someone that spends a few dollars or thousands of dollars. The campaign takes longer than many AAA games nowadays. It's a Diablo game... don't expect thrilling dialogues or meaningful quests. You'll hit a gear check in PvP, depending how spending willing your server population is. (Don't have to engage in PvP at all, it's optional) You'll hit a gear check at some point in challenge rifts because you simply lack power those that spend money have. Therefore your name will never be/ remain at the top of any leaderboard nor do you need to hope to be in the "best" (strongest = spend the most amount) clan on the server. I never had the time nor the will to top any leaderboard because... real life. So whether someone spends money to be on top or is simply the one spending most of his real life time with the support of an entire group of players... the result is the same.

The loot boxes are there, the content is gated behind it, the content will cost you 10 years of playtime to reach or £1000’s. You are the problem, the casual mobile gamers that don’t understand the effect predatory practices have on the industry as a whole. You even admit content being gated “you’ll get gear checked in pvp” but “You don’t have to engage in PVP, it’s optional”. All of gaming is optional but when you take a large portion of the content and make it a credit card war, it’s not only disgusting from an ethical point of view (people with gambling addiction could be ruined), it’s also a terrible design choice, why would you want to segregate your player base? Rich/Poor? I can only imagine you’re defending this game’s practices because you’re already heavily invested. Do yourself a favour and hop on S26 Diablo 3 on console/PC.
