ISUZU is a Japanese car manufacturer that was established in 1934, but has roots back to 1916, when Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. planned a cooperation with the Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. to build automobiles.
Isuzu today builds both commercial vehicles as well as industrial vehicles. Isuzu also produces diesel-engines. Isuzu in general produces sturdy strong cars like the Isuzu D-max, which is among the very best in its class when it comes to its load capacity.
Isuzu cooperates with both General Motors and Mitsubishi Motors. General Motors owns 12% of Isuzu's shares. A share, which was reduced from 49 to 12% in late 2002. Mitsubishi Motors is the largest shareholder of Isuzu, as it owns 15.65%. Isuzu is also supplying other car producers with their diesel engines, among others Chevrolet, Opel and Honda.
