I can't believe All the people giving him crap about the 10,000 mile oil change. It's pretty clear that he is doing it by the book so as to be the example. If he runs into issues down the road because of it, he is perfectly fine with that. I bet. That is part of the experiment here. I agree with the sentiment that it makes more sense to do it at half that, but that's not the point here. He is doing it by the book whether it makes sense or not.

Great and honest review! I have a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro and I love it to death, but I don’t think I’ll buy another Toyota for my next vehicle. Idk Toyota designs with the new Tacoma and 4Runner is a little boring for my taste, where as Ford and Chevy came out with all new bold designs. Who knows, maybe when I see the new 4Runner in person it’ll change my mind.

I love the 24 tacoma, its built more like a tundra than the 3rd gen. Everything is heavier duty, the frame, the suspension. Im close to 2k miles on it. I changed the oil at 900 miles and it was clean, no metal or anything. Power from the 4cyl turbo is impressive. I have 33" tires now and it still moves, sr5 4x4 non-hybrid. I was gettin 21 mpg before. Now its more like 19 mpg. My 2nd gen got 16.5 mpg with smaller tires. That 4.0 was a nice engine though but the 8 speed transmission is super smooth and quick.

The engine has terrible boost regulation because Toyota was to cheap to use a EWG like u get in the tundra at least. Adding weight and larger tires increases the load therefore the boost regulated by vacuum. Most turbo modern engines use a ewg for efficiency which is the whole point of downsizing engines and turbocharging them

@@TRDJon Respect your channel John, but Toyota does care about their vehicles lasting the maximum length it can. Instead, they want to make sure the customer is happy with the maintenance schedule, and the second thing -- is that the truck/car makes it past the warranty period without issues. Toyota Car Care Nut channel is an expert Toyota technician. He's been working on Toyota's for over 20 years. And he recommends a 5k oil change, and 3.5 oil change for turbo's. And you can say, what does he know? Well he has seen the wear on motor's long-term who do not follow this schedule. Also, turbo's generate additional heat requiring a much more strict oil change and maintenance schedule. Remember, Toyota does not always have your best interest at heart, they are a business at the end of the day. Please consider what I am talking about. Cheers brother and keep making awesome videos!

Yeah, When Toyota USA is paying, it's every 10k when its you paying it's every 5k. Too many videos on YT that state Not to wait until 10K (The Car Care Nut).
Grill shutters are such a stupid design. Something that can easily fail.
My Dad was a toyota master tech for 37 years. He said never do the 10k oil changes. Car care nut says the same thing. Especially with a turbo. It's the cheapest but most important maintenence you can do! 10k is possible under light driving conditions which off roading ect. is not. My manual for the 3rd gen said do not tow for 1000 miles, do not accelerate at a fast rate, keep it slow for 1000 miles, Don't hit the breaks hard for 500 miles. And then change the oil after the first 1000 miles, because metal debris from the engine breaking in can be I'm the oil / oil filter. Then next oil change would be at 5000 miles, and every 5k after that. It's crucial also with these new turbo motors the oil is changed religiously or whoever has this car later on is going to have problems. This isn't a 3rd gen taco or a 4 runner. Even then every Toyota tech that ik doesn't suggest that. If you read the manual it says 10k is ONLY for certain driving conditions which doesn't apply to 90% of us lol. It doesn't really matter what other maintenence you do if your not changing the oil at 5k max then your not taking care of the car at all. It's cheap and quick so it boggles my mind on why people don't do it when it's crucial to the engine.

Not really, I've seen vehicles with over 200k and they've done the recommended.

@mad-meh2719 yes but recommended is more than one change for 10k in severe service which is how this truck is driven. If all he did was drive highway then fine. That's not how this truck is driven, so this 10k service isn't following recommended change interval.

Manual says every 10k miles to service oil. If you drive dirt or dusty roads 5k. So if you’re only a pavement princess yes I’d say 10k is probably okay. If you’re doing any off road on dirt should be changed 5k.
Not a single issue😂
Grill shutter? That’s a bit over engineered and probably an unnecessary complicated part. The Car Care Nut says to change the oil every 5000 miles. He’s a certified Toyota mechanic. He did a video on an engine change out on an engine that had 10,000 mile oil changes and the inside of the engine was not very clean. Turbochargers are very hard on oil. They create a lot of heat. Modern synthetic oil is hard to break down, but they do break down. The other issue is oil dilution that can happen with forced induction engines which is another reason for more frequent oil changes. It would be interesting to do an oil analysis on your next oil change 5000 miles down the road. It would make good content. BTW I change my oil every 5000 miles on my 2020 Tacoma with 89,000 miles on it. I haven’t had a single issue with this truck! It’s been stellar. It runs as well if not better than when it was new. I just did a 70 mile trip and got 24 mpg. It’s a 2wd TRD sport.

Nice man! Enjoy it!
The truck uses about 5.5 quarts 😂, you seriously think 10k intervals is ok ? Toyota lies, scams and doesn’t care about your vehicle after warranty. German cars usually have those long intervals because they use 10-12 quarts typically. Good thing you don’t keep them long
Go Nissan way better truck

Nissan😂😂😂,My father 2022 titan transmission went out at only 4k miles and Nissan took almost 3 months to get it fix ,Car manufacturers are not making trucks like they once did unfortunately.
I will not check out that new 4th gen forum because I like Kat litter commercials.

You do you then
All of the new generation Toyota Trucks and SUV are TRASH! Engines, transmissions, grill shudder… complete trash.
I just saw today (6-23-24) that Toyota is going to spend tons of money expanding their TX truck factory. My guess is, they think Trump will win this Nov, and they will be better off financially building in the US, rather than Mexico. 👍🏻🇺🇸

Some KZreadrs are saying that a Hino plant in Arkansas is shutting down. That plant made some parts for the Tundra (not many mainly axles and some other related parts). The expansion at the Texas plant is to incorporate those components into production at the Texas plant
