There is great confusion regarding the terms co-dependent, counter-dependent, and dependent. Before we proceed to study the Dependent Personality Disorder in our next article, we would do well to clarify these terms.

Struggling undiagnosed dependant personality disordered 32 female. Adelaide SA. Heading to your website now. I've spent my whole nearly 30 years trying to work out how to help myself. I only just found your KZread clips, but I seriously found you just in time. I've been barely holding on for the last year after I drove my bf away. He thinks I'm this cold hearted evil narcissist & it's just crushed my soul that he doesn't understand, but neither did I. I knew I have never been narcisstic not ever in my life time, I love love, I love being in love, I so full of love I could just burst. X

This was very helpful since we want to understand what is wrong with us. Felt their was a problem but now I know all codependents are not the same. I hope you do more videos on this subject because you really made this simplified of what seemed so complicated.

I have an avoidant personality style. I also have a dependent style in romantic relationships. It’s hell. I can’t go out to get the thing I need It’s narcissistic in my opinion.

So just like narcissism can be cured so too can codependency, but people who have people pleasers syndrome know they have a condition, can the same be said about people who have narcissistic personality disorder?? What I'm saying is is if one parent out of the two parents has narcissism and they raise an only child how will the child know if he/she has a disorder because to them their up bringing will be the norm, so if a narc child could heal and a person who has codependency heals both sets of children would be classed as dependant and the world would be a much better place to live and relationships would be all ok and normal.. so how does a single adult child raised by a narc mother heal when she can't be reasoned with

I think you need to reword your cent from opposition to then the question. State the situation, explain the up bring, then ask what you need to ask. It's confusing the way it is.

What I'm saying is, A codependent person can be cured which then they can become dependant, so why can't a narcissist be cured to become a dependant human being, A narcissist doesn't know they have a disorder so they will never be cured, which is what I'm saying. If a young child was brought into the world by 2 parents and 1 parent was a narcissist the young child who is an only child will grow up into adult hood not knowing any different. To the child/adult narcissism is the only thing they know so why would they get help so they change from a narc to a dependant person

Sam Vaknin explains that clearly in his other videos. If it is narcissism it is subcontiously chosen strategy for this trauma survived child. There is no one there. There is no real emotion,no object consistancy,no real self,no impulse control. The biggest thing what stops them for even adressing the issues is self rightiousness and entitlement.Only option that could bring them closer to healing is expieriancing "mortification".

@MrTheomighty1 no it woukd not matter if thats all the npd child knew, to the prognosis...if only awareness was part of the healing! Wed all be heales lol
