"Sometimes we care too much about what other people think period. That's why it's only like me and 3 other people that's out in the industry" ☕️TALK ABOUT IT LENA!! Beautiful, much needed conversation.
Yarrraaaa!!!! Every time she opened her mouth, I was like 'Amen!'

Yara, is basically good and laying down the context for vague questions from the interviewer assuming everyone knows where she’s coming from, but she sounds very unrelatable with her use of vocabulary, I’m not sure she has a good read on the audience

Nadeska transparency is appreciated. Also, I wouldn't mind if the interview was uncut. Sometimes the gems left in the uncut interviews.
lena waithe has such an energy. so funny, articulate and confident. love the way she takes up space and holds her head up high, what an inspiration
Love Jemele's shirt! I love seeing beautiful, intelligent black women have refreshing conversations about the hurdles they encounter as creatives.
All these ladies are amazing but everytime that Yara Speaks I am extra proud. She's rather young but she's brilliant
I loved this segment! Very inspirational! 👸🏾
I love Issa!❤️

Loved this conversation. I hope to see more videos like this from Women of Color in the industry. Thanks, Complex.
Dope! Loved seeing Nedeska next to women like Issa! They are both so inspiring 😍
Lena gives me so much life. All of these women were dropping some amazing gems and I am just at awe at their journeys. Super inspiring!
I appreciate Nadeska's pov because it's real and not glamorous definitely what I have experienced throughout my career especially since I have moved in a way counter to the norm.
What a lovely panel. I wish it were longer.
That girl from everyday struggle comes across like she isn't really happy at her job at all.
An amazing collective of women who dropped gem after gem!!
These women take pride in who they are, and how can one not love them? To see WOC being this secure in their craft is major as FUUUUCK💞💞
Yara is so damn eloquent!
I feel Jemele on that part about Monopoly. You will get roasted in any game especially spades, monopoly, dominos, and uno 💀😂. Detroit born and raised. ✊🏾
Met Lena before she's super dope
Great interview! Us midwest girls are raised to be self believers, hustlers and outspoken.

A really powerful segment! Would love to see more in this series. Why not give these ladies an hour?
I'm loving Issa!!! Looking forward to seeing her as a Wife and a Mom🥰
I wish Mixed Race women would acknowledge their privilege in these types of conversations, its erasing to Black women when they dont. Greatwork though.

I agree. But I also like how they are with their sisters as one. I sure hope they have those talks behind the camera, then come together to make a unified statement. It's pretty cool how they co-sign each others perspectives in public. I LOVE this shit!
@jillruff1655

Im quite long-winded, so buckle up! Lol... Although bi-racial privilege is very real, the topic being discussed was more so women vs men as it pertains to our difficulties achieving success the industry, & not women vs each other. The epidemic of colorism is already it's own beast entirely, & if presented in THIS particular setting it wld've proven to be more divisive than unifying, thus upseting the group's harmonic balance, & disrupting everyone's shakras! Lol. Colorism amongst black women requires its own platform devoted strictly to that, & that alone. You can't just open the lid then close it up real qwik like Lena did with the "only me & 3 other ppl out in the indusrty" comment. On this panel, she's the only LGBT+ person present. But with the dais literally being split 50/50, with three full AA women (Lena, Issa, & Jameele) vs 3 mixed race WOC, they wldnt be able to casually ease a topic as controversial as "mixed privilege" into the conversation without being forced to dissect it fully & possibly offending some one. They did right. They kept it cute. Besides, the subject at hand was heavy enough! Sheesh! How many dragons do u want them to slay in a 26 minute YT video?

thehoneyeffect how so? Halle Berry is biracial but I don't see how she was privileged by Hollywood producers. In fact they seemed to only want her to play the stereotypical "tragic mulatto"! Case and point that horrific role she played in Monster Ball and Swordfish in which she was sexualized by White men.
Yassssssss ISSA!!!
why is this so clumsily edited?

Unfortunately great production does not make up for poor storytelling. The stories that they have told so far Has been beautiful garbage. Make no mistake about it they are up there because A wealthy Caucasian put them there. Quality over quantity will always win. I will rather see a great story told on a iPhone, Then a demoralizing story poorly structured told with the most highest of production. The money will dry up, Because this business is all about turning a profit rather than black female empowerment. The art of storytelling is also a gift that very few people possess. Everyone an their mother is a writer and director, But the proof is in the profit. You don't have to be a filmmaker to understand the art form of cinema.
Yara, is basically good and laying down the context for vague questions from the interviewer assuming everyone knows where she’s coming from, but she sounds very unrelatable with her use of vocabulary, I’m not sure she has a good read on the audience

“hate on black men”? One of the great things about Issa’s work is her true representation of multi faceted black people (men & women) she continuously shows what some may say as “stereotypical” black characters while also showing the good & bad that just comes with the black experience. “hate” for black men is strong, loud & wrong. She shows black men being black men, whatever that means to you. And vice verse with black women.
@denisedean2446

la3g462 Wow look at all the negative comments being leveled at these Black women on this post! You got Becky asking "Why can't Black women support white women?"(we don't do windows!), another posts by a white guy asked why "non-white women weren't being honored", and brothas straight up started listing the Black women on this forum that they disliked! This is why these forums are needed, because Black women have had to put up with abusive dialogue from Black and White males as well as combating White women undermining our talents in corporate America. Black women are not going to sit down and take that ish. Our voices will not be muted!!!
I thought Lena Waith was a transgender.
Where are the non-black women? I thought this was supposed to be honoring ALL women.

Why can’t black women represent white women? At the end of the day we’re all women. It’s sad you saw this and thought (All) women weren’t represented. Maybe you should think about why not seeing a white women on this panel bothered you so much and work on that internally
