Yeah. Pizzolatto may be a difficult person to deal with and his criticism of season 4 may have been over the top. But at some point, I think we’ve at least gotta understand how someone who lost his own creation might have negative feelings about what’s done with his baby after taken from him.

My head cannon is that there is no relation between 1 and 4. Just 4 having useless information that did nothing else but waste time. While 1 is the best piece of television ever

Kill the fun of the discovery? Go deeper with leaving open ended questions? Did anyone have any kind of “oh that makes sense now!” moment? I’ve looked around for answers and the only answers I can find are: -some questions don’t have answers. -The cleaning ladies did it and something named her killed them. Nothing in the end had any kind of closure. Felt like no one knew how to finish it.

She seems like a good person who cares about her craft. That doesn't save the absolutely abysmal writing (and production but if the writing was good it maybe could have been ok) of this season. It's just bad, offensively bad honestly.

Really offensive seeing her cast a black woman to play an indigenous woman’s role. Kali Reis is not indigenous. She’s also not an actor. And it showed. I really wish filmmakers were more focused on making good film. Imagine how good it would’ve been with a real actor playing off the incredible Jodie Foster.

To the o.p. For the same reason a band that loses its lead singer and replaces them keeps the same name: recognition (and moolah.) If they'd called this turkey simply Night Country it'd flopped. Same as they did for those new episodes of Justified (which was likewise a big disappointment; I'd hoped for the best but it was also quite the suck-fest.)

dear issa, first of all, please don't do another season. because of two things. first, you are very far away from the core of true detective. your lead detectives did not had natural conflicts and dynamics. you built their relation based on navarro's incident (and its aftermath). after its revelation, even denvers said "if you didn't do it, I'd have done it". for example, if you look at season 1 marty's incident, rust was eager to learn from him more. this arises from the rooted characteristics of these two leads. in your case, your leads did not have this depth. the only dynamic you had was denvers acceptance of the both cases being the same case. for example, in season 2 the tension between bezzerides and velcoro was brilliant by nic. these two detectives were lying to each other and playing a "chess game" with each other. and especially, the background and the transition of velcoro was spectacular. he was not the same person, between the start and finish. in your case, for example, did danvers personality change? she have had covered and covered, between the start and finish. I hope these help to point out the issue. moreover, if you listen nic, he said that the main idea of season 1 was about the conflict and dialogues of these two leads, the murder was there for the sauce. and you're describing your process of writing with races. come on, did you really focused on the dialouges, dynamics of your leads; or were you pitching your idea using the diversity card? if the latter was your goal, nic also did a very good example of that in season 3. I am sure you would guess the lead detective that I am mentioning. yes, but especially see brett woodward character in season 3, and his storyline. it was bril-li-ant. the second reason you should not write another season is you are very bad at writing "crime case". there are various criticism on this, you can check THE REAL REVIEWS of your show. but the most apparent is, you don't know how to cultivate a case from detectives pov. can you tell me how many times you used "exogenous news"? almost every progress followed the scheme that X tells to your detectives that there is A going on which these X and A just pops up in your storyline. there were a lot of logical mistakes in timings and naturality characters behaviors. truedetective subreddit is full of this. most of them just become a meme. finally, the way you respond to some criticism was awful. you directly said "these guys are misogynists" etc in your socials. no it was about your poor writing. for example, mare of easttown is a brilliant work. we loved it. guess what brad wrote the lead's arc such that she was overcoming a trauma, and made us walk through with her. brilliant! if this STAYS AS the artistry level of your craft, you will be here for the short run with the help of your artificial review bubble and nic's legacy. we'll see if I am correct or not in 5 years. bests.

Too bad she didn't pour any intelligence or wit into the series. Wasted an interesting cast and the most awkward and uninteresting exchanges between characters I've seen since Westworld's 2nd season which was a travesty compared to the 1st. Just six episodes but I gave up after watching most of the third. Not ONE character worth keeping up with. Not ONE conversation or scene worth recalling. Any intelligent 12-year old would ask why the police didn't focus on the cleaning women (the ONLY people who spent more than 15 seconds in that lab other than the delivery guy) but sure let's focus instead on the Chief's dreary sex life etc.

hi @@kalifornia4745 , can you please come to some sense? it is the most natural thing for fans of a show to see a coherent theme in an art they love. if hbo execs decided to use the brand to exploit the fan base and to gather higher attention, there is some minimum levels that they need to attain. otherwise it falls apart as it is happening right now. just check out the UNPAID reviewers (which is the fans of the show) - user critiques, you will see it. I am sorry to say this and actually I don't want to be rude but I guess someone needs to say it; if you don't have any idea on a topic (which apparently, you do not as you did not watch it 1st season), you may not comment about it. in these days, everyone have some opinions without any found thinking. in this context, I actually find issa very succesful. maybe intentionally or not; she sees this full of empty opinion holders, give them the mottos and narratives they need and can understand easily, gets paid and move on. whatever, enough discussion for me on this comment section. bests.
