Hamas is not a legal reason for the deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure and civilians in Gaza. That is why israel is in the ICJ for "plausibly committing genocide"

Yes there are always civilian casualties in a war. Show me one that doesn't have any. This hasn't held any other army back from trying to achieve their military objectives. At least Israel is trying to evacuate and provide shelter for Gazans. More than can be said for Hamas, which seems to want the opposite. They could end the war tomorrow and avoid future casualties, but they're only interested in saving themselves. As the commentator says, you should distinguish between a combatant and non combatant. Hamas does everything it can to prevent that.

The Egyptians held the Gaza Strip from 1947 until 1967, why didn’t they make it into a “palestinian” state? The country of Jordan (which used to be half of what was then called the Palestinian Mandate before the British separated it and created a new country called Jordan) held the West Bank from 1947 until 1967. Why didn’t Jordan give up the West Bank for a “palestinian” state?
