The first thing you need to understand that is that you will never be able to fully understand what Palestinians have been going through for decades. Most of them never had, or never will have, a normal life. Hence, you shouldn't even think about pushing your morality on peace and violence on them. Not saying your stance is objectively bad, even if I don't agree with it. When a person is kept in an open air concentration camp, and witness apartheid towards their people for years, is orphaned because of your oppressor, and have nothing to live for, they will, inevitably, pick up arms. And Im confident to say that in a situation like that, you probably will too. Nelson Mandela's quote when he visited Gaza in '99: ""Choose peace rather than confrontation, except in cases where we cannot move forward. Then, if the only alternative is violence, we will use violence." "There will never be peace through violence" And there will never be an end to violence unless the violators face retaliation.

Clearly fake. One can tell due to how the Hamas "commander" is keeping his words so short and simple, almost as if he wants people to have a narrow minded idea: the typical Western Orientalist view. Actual interviews with real Palestinian fighters would have been more longer and nuanced, with them talking about the history of Israeli atrocities, Israeli unwillingness to recognize the Palestinian state (Israel made use of clever word games to skirt around recognition of the state by saying it recognized the West Bank authority as a representative in the Oslo Accords) as well as other forms of oppression that they employ on Palestinians. The fact that all that is not there despite how Palestinian groups have routinely tried to mention those indicates that this video is faked.

@@edricocta8746 I'm still not entirely sure I understood you. Yes, there is a Hamas presence in the west bank. They are not in control the way they were in Gaza, but they still have numerous cells and a substantial following. Hamas in the west bank did not participate to any substantial extent in the October 7 atrocities. I don't know why - maybe because it's harder for them to organize and arm themselves because of the Israeli presence, maybe the Gaza leadership was just concerned that the plans would leak. One way or another, though, they are part of the same organization and share an ideology. So I think it's legitimate to interview a Hamas member in the west bank regarding October 7.

The messages basically come across as Baskin desperately trying to negotiate a prisoner exchange (not that he had any authority to do so) and Hamad playing him like a fiddle. And at the end Baskin still refuses to acknowledge that he has been played, saying only that "this is not the Ghazi Hamad I knew".

A rather simplistic view of a more complex situation concerning international law. The Jewish State of Israel is supported by international law that has been accepted as the national homeland on account of history, in addition to world persecution of Jewish people and mass expulsions from both Europe and Arab nations where they had been living peacefully for thousands of years, prior to Islam. There is one Jewish State that poses no threat to any other nation in this world, as opposed to some twenty three majority Muslim states. Of these twenty three Muslim states some fanatical theocratic regimes seek the destruction of the One Jewish State, for no reason other than the so-called religious belief Jews have no right to exist anywhere in the world. This strugle is not about land, but Jewish existence, this is the factual truth of the matter - the rest is mere propaganda.

These comments really upset me- please educate yourself. Alot of the jewish people that live in Israel did not come to Israel because of what you are saying. They were legit KICKED OUT of their homes- like in the Farhud in 1941 the jews in iraq were tortured, killed, robbed etc. and DRIVEN OUT to Israel. The Iraqi's didn't want them there and they wanted them GONE. Do you think my grandparents wanted to live in tents for YEARS in Israel and have everything they knew destroyed in Iraq? This is important education to understand why the jewish people that were forced out of their homes fight so hard to not be told they have to leave AGAIN! it will not happen- they fought too long and too hard. The arabs countries around Israel wanted there to be a jewish state- they didn't want them anymore. Edit: They were driven out in 1951 ( Farhud started in 1941 and was getting increasingly more violent with time)

Two State suggestion is the problem, not the solution. Because if living in dignity and peace is the mutual objective and is feasable, then why did the Arabs not respect the Oslo Accords?? Why would anyone need to bear arms?? Neither Israel not the Palestinians would need an army if regional and local peace was feasible. The Arab world, especially those living in the Holy Land were on the wrong side of history in WW1 and WW2. They lost. Their problem, their fault. They need to accept the realities of conflict. The Allies owe them nothing. Israel included. Sovreignty is earned and served by victory and alliance, and maintained by social achievements. Palestine and Palestinians never existed as a collective unit of any sort. There is no connection between the people of Nablus and the people of Gaza, between Jenin and Rafah. None at all. The Arab world launched an invasion on Israel in 1948, and lost. They continued their threat on the State of Israel, which led to the 1967 war, and to the 1973 war, in which Israel gained back the territores stolen by Jordan and Egypt which are original Jewish lands. Jordan stole 75% of British Mandate Palestine. Why give this over to anyone??? Why cede a victory earned in blood and tears? What's the logic in that? To restart the time bomb?? Weird philosophy.

Israeli's aren't colonizers in the original sense like British were largely because returning to their promised land is not the same as finding a new place. Their claims are religious and more importantly historic. Its like Hindus/Buddhists/Jains having a stake in India or Muslims having a stake in Mecca and Medina. Religious-Cultural claims backed by verifiable historic proof and realized by state sanctioned violence is legitimate regardless of how much sanctimonious moralism one engages in.
