Did the Isrealis really think that the indiscriminate dropping of 2 000 pound bombs in civilian areas would not result in casualties to the hostages? Did they not think that dropping 65 000 tons of bombs in the first 90 days of the 'war' would result in the deaths of thousands of innocents, including some of their own? I find it very hard to believe that they thought that by some miracle the hostages would escape their outrageously disproportionate onslaught unscathed. Netanyahu and his war cabinet need to take responsibility for this.

They won't and neither will their supporters. They don't care how many of their own people are killed, in fact those people are considered a "sacrificial offering". Same with Hamas. Hamas said that innumerable Palestinians would die, and that this is what it takes to gain freedom for Palestine. Individual human lives do not matter to war mongers, no matter their religious beliefs or their goals - they are all the same. Just see how many Jews were sacrificed during the Holocaust in order for Zionist Israel to come into existence.
