I'm amazed at how smoothly you played this busy bassline without it ever sounding too crowded.

So when people think about a 'busy bassline' often what's not understood is why its busy, or what's IN the busy bassline itself. If we can understand that its busy but it fits, then we can come to the conclusion that it fills the criteria of the context of the music itself. It's the reason why Jamerson lines are so good, regardless how 'busy' it is. I also think that people often simply the term 'intricate' to 'busy' and it often gives negative connotation to a certain type of playing. Think about classical music, no one would ever call it 'simple' or 'busy'. People just knew or know it as music. Every single note in this bassline contributes to the music. It's why it doesn't sound 'too crowded'. It's because it's sitting on a very, very specific space in the music that only belongs to the bass itself. I can tell you about every single note that I played in this video and the purpose of playing them. It's about having understanding of what you're doing.

yeah for sure, when you play in a 3-4hour gig and sitting on the first 5 frets, you'll feel it.
