It might be a combination of both desire for more territory, and resentment followed by hatred, murder and then revenge. Once one side starts the conflict and draws blood, the other side isn't going to back down and just surrender immediately, they'll want revenge.

My problem isn't the civilians. It's the governments. Hamas is guilty of starting the war. The people of Palestine and Israel should not hate each other. But the Israeli Defense Force has the right to defend itself against Hamas, as Hamas like I sais started the conflict. All the US was trying to do is to bring normalize peace between Saudi Arabia and Israel, but then Hamas wanted to attack Israel over that for no reason. Now, look at Hamas. Their entire Northern half is almost gone.

Sadly they elected Hamas, which spent all international aid on corruption and rockets/tunnels instead of providing for their people.
