Israel and Iran: From Allies to Enemies. How Did this Happen? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Once allies, Israel and Iran's relationship deteriorated post-1979 Islamic Revolution. Iran's shift to an anti-Israel stance, coupled with its support for armed groups like Hezbollah, fuelled tensions. Israel's concerns deepened with Iran's nuclear ambitions and regional influence. Additionally, Iran's calls for Israel's destruction further strained relations. Israel's preemptive strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities exacerbated hostilities. Geopolitical alignments also played a role, with Israel forming alliances with Iran's rivals. Today, ideological, geopolitical, and security factors define their enmity, overshadowing their once-cooperative past. Amid proxy wars, the two nations have come a long way-from being friends to foes. Palki Sharma tells you more.

When Hamas attacked israelis Palestinian Muslims celebrated. When Israel started retaliation all Muslims began mourning. Now Iran attacked Israel again all Muslims are celebrating. Tomorrow when Israel retaliates all of them will mourn. In fact they don't know when to celebrate and mourn

You showed the Iran drone attack but not mentioned or illustrated as a retaliatory action in regards to the bombing of their consulate in Syria, resulting in death of Iranians

Even US media pointed out that this attack from Iran was in retaliation for Israel striking the Iranian consulate in Syria. This attack was conducted in a way where Iran knew the drones/missiles would be intercepted. This was a show of force from Iran due to being directly attacked. Also to mention the Israel/Iran proxi war without mentioning US involvement seems questionable because undoubtedly US is heavily involved.

I agree with the remark below. Israel was given, or has taken, the US and UK support to be permission to attack carte blanche, be it Gaza or anywhere else it seems. WHY do the US and UK give unconditional support to Israel?. Did Israel attack Iran to distract from the mass destruction and tens of thousands of deaths in Gaza? I cannot understand the "unconditional" support of my country, when the current Israeli hard right government does not appear to care jot what anyone thinks but itself. Meanwhile it is letting its hostages and families suffer so very much. Breathtaking. Meanwhile Ukraine is being bombed into the stone age and much of the world has turned its back while Hitler 2 rampages through Ukraine and thence to ...who next? Poland?Jane Soole, 80 years, Dorset, England.
