Thanks Ron. I kept trying to imagine this on sax, so I searched for a Joe Henderson version. Might never have looked without your Real Book Project!

I kept trying to imagine this on saxophone so I sashayed over to Apple Music to find Joe Henderson playing it. My ears prefer the tune on sax. But thanks! I wouldn’t have looked for it without your Real Book project!

He has a great album of Billy Strayhorn tunes as well.

Great performance Ron. I had to rewind when I heard the Monkisms, what a fitting sound for this tune! I've been watching some Barry Harris diminished 6th videos this weekend and was excited to immediately recognize those four m3 intervals you discussed in the intro being connected by diminished movement. Love the versatility as always!

Thanks Jack! It can be tempting to play tunes like "everyone else," but I'm leaning to trust my instincts.

This chart was given to us as the bebop blues piece for our school jazz band… 3 weeks before a competition… with a bassist who learned walking this year… and man, that turnaround is so wacky! The whole chart is super chromatic and weird tbh. Oh well, great video Ron I’m probably gonna rewatch this a few times for walking patterns, soloing and LH voicing because this chart has me a little lost.

Yep, it's a little tricky! Play it a lot at a slow tempo, like 80 bpm, so you have time to think ahead. Good luck!
