Islamorada Ep5 Shore Fishing Fun, Hog Fish, Jacks, Mangrove Snapper, Grunts and hooked a big Tarpon

Спорт

On two of the final days of our trip I found a spot around the corner from where we were staying that looked good for fishing. After casting and seeing dozens of fish I grabbed more gear, some bait from a local lobster pound and my camera. Over the course of two afternoons, I caught 2 decent hog fish and dozens of jacks, mangrove snappers and grunts. On the final afternoon I hooked a tarpon and battled him for over ten minutes. The bay I was fishing in was lined with docks and boats and I did not want him to wrap up in one of them, so I fought him fairly aggressively and pulled the hook after a few spectacular jumps, it happens. While I would have loved to land this fish there was no good area to do so. You cannot lift tarpon over 40" out of the water and the wall I was fishing on was lined with lots of Upside-Down Jellyfish, so entering the water would have SUUUUCKED (I fell into a school of these when I was a kid and they are horrible). All fish were released as we had plenty to eat already. Shore fishing brings back great memories from childhood and of all the things we did on this trip shore fishing was one of my favorites.

Effing awesome! If that doesn’t get your blood pumping nothing will. I think I know exactly where you were. I recognized those condos across from you. Was there a place just near you selling live bait and lobsters and the gas station a little farther south? Great hookup on the tarpon. It’s pretty difficult to land them without chasing them in the boat. You did a good as possible and no shame there!🎣🎣

Meu Deus que diferença do Brasil, nos canais daqui não se pesca quase nada, poluição toma conta, um dia ainda conhecerei a Flórida, pra pegar alguns peixes, parabéns!

Mostly in the southern zone but all over really. Trout ponds early season, bigger lakes mid season for togue and tournaments, then Belgrade and the county late season
