Are u really comparing Colby to Islam? Islam has major submission threat. Colby and Usman didn't have this. Striking will be interesting. Islam is defensive and likes countering...but so does Leon. He'll grapple and wrestle him to the ground.

The sooner islam moves up the worse it is for his legacy, to win the belt and move up having never defended it against a lightweight contender would not only delegitimise his cause for going up but also leave a huge asterix next to his lightweight championship. Islam could easily defend the 155 strap another couple times before moving up which would make a champ v champ superfight more compelling along with surpassing khabib making him the greatest lightweight we've ever seen, then to move up once achieving that hes already well on track to full fledged goat status.

Gsp, jones and mighty mouse are considered the best ever cause of their title defences, Jones and gsp added to that existing reputation by moving up a division years after their reign. Anderson, Fedor, Aldo and Khabib are all further up the goat list than guys like DC, Pereira, Connor or Cejudo because of title defences. Islam has the potential to have the greatest reign in the most competitive division in the biggest mma promotion, obviously he can do what he wants but title defences especially at lightweight would mean more than the 170 belt

Even when his kids are around just being kids in the backround he's able to make them apart of the video he will be talking and his kid will come sit on his lap he won't break character he doesn't even stop talking he actually continues what he's saying to us while in-between words telling his kid what to do and it dosnt even ruin the video if anything it makes it better so wholesome and unscripted!

I don’t get why we applaud Islam for wanting to move up but shit on Leon for wanting to move up. Both won the belt and only has two title defenses. I remember King Chael kicking Anderson Silva’s ass for 21 minutes and 40 seconds back in August of 2010 at UFC 117 before getting caught for 10 seconds.

I think this is what the ufc will do most probably they will make islam vs gaethje on the beginning of march and leon vs belal on april since leon said he wanted april and if makhachev wins against justin and leon wins against belal then most definitely a fight between islam vs leon will happen on october 2024

If you are fit and in pristine physical condition, or if you are simply a constant healthy weight with a good 15% bodyfat, you will notice despite being in the same quality shape you get heavier and a bit thicker as you grow. Your organs collect more fat around them also.

I'm a big time Islam Makhachev fan, so perhaps my opinion is skewed his way. However as a long time MMA fan I'm over the Champ Champ thing. Please guys, stay in your division. Now having said that, I'd LOVE to see Islam vs Rocky as a fight fan. I can see it being done at UFC 300. I would be OK with this fight there because it's supposed to be a spectacle. My concern is having Islam fight 5 days after Ramadan! What his body will go through training with no food or water. I worry will we get the best Islam and the best fight that night?? Islam is a beast so he will be ready 💯... But will he be 💯

Makhachev trained with Belal and once sparred with Leon. Perhaps based on this, Islam wants to rise to 77kg. But after a couple of fights, Inshallah Shavkat will take this belt and it doesn't matter who will be the champion there...

When was that poll, was it before or after Gaethje knocked out Dustin? If it was after, was it before or after we saw Dariush go on a massive losing skid ergo retroactively making what Oliveira did to him look less impressive. I would 1000% rather see Gaethje get the chance, and it also has the added benefit of opening up more matchups in the lightweight division because you can have Tsarukyen fight Oliveira for the actual next shot after that.

He has lost many fights and he knows what it's like to be in there with a better fighter. Charles narrowly beat the casuals big 3 of Gaethje Porier and Chandler. He could have just as easily been on a three fight skid against them since they all nearly beat him at one point or another. Islam is a completely different animal from those 3

@@paulcox2447 I just want guys to get rewarded for clearing out (and finishing) the top 5 of their division and becoming champ. Do I think he wins? No, but imo there should be some incentive or reward, if only to encourage guys from ducking hard fights. lol it shouldn't be this rare.

@@paulcox2447 He didn't 'narrowly beat' them, he literally finished all of them. 'He could've been on a three fight skid' -- yeah, and if your grandma had wheels she could've been a bicycle. Islam is better than Charles, but Charles is better than those guys. Gaethje wouldn't even go to his guard. No denying that Islam v Oliveira 2 is unlikely to be competitive. So I don't have any problem with it being Islam v Gaethje instead, since we haven't seen that fight. BUT there's no reason to think it will be any more competitive. Chael both underrates Charles (he thought Dariush would beat him) and consistently overrates US wrestlers (Gaethje, Colby). Islam's toughest test at LW is Arman (though I think Islam wins that too) but he'll have to go through either Charles, Gaethje or Dustin first.

Islam vs Gaethje or Tsarukyan would be the next fight to go for at lightweight. But I'd be happy to see Islam go to to welterweight and fight any of the top 4. Truth be told, I really want to see someone smash Islam.

He only has three more fights and retires. His fights are Charles Justin Tsarukyan Dana doesn’t want Islam at 170. Dana has long term plans for 170. Islam will kill that plan for Dana.

Charles should fight Tsarukyan and winner gets Islam. Most likely it will be Tsarukyan. Charles has his from him. Islam fight Justin Then Islams last fight is Leon. Then open belt goes to Shavkat vs Belal. That would stop Belal. That’s how I would do it.

I don’t mind him committing to 170, I wasn’t a fan of him going up only to fight Leon and then return to 55. It’s any champ jumping up a weight class just for a title fight and hunting the double champ status. Honestly Islam is a huge 55’er that probably would enjoy life a lot more without that weight cut. Furthermore I think his skills are plenty for that division too.

I really want to see Makhachev go up and challenge Leon now. In reality i think it would be a really tall order for Mak to overcome. But all he arguably needs is 3 takedowns to win the championship, so he for sure has a legit chance.

The grappling aspect would be so interesting to watch. Leon is slowly becoming confident with that aspect of his game as well, he stuffed Colby and Usman’s grappling in recent times. Islam would be the ultimate test.

Yes, I am actually. But I was never 155, they just are athletes that keep gaining muscle and growing. I've had my man physique since 16 some guys don't get that till 25-30. Wierd how our frames grow as we age

Islam is a Lion jus like Khabib he ragdoll these dudes at 155 or 170. Charles is a excellent fighter but he don't want that smoke and most people don't want see that rematch. Islam will have the strength of a 185 pounder. Leon is a good man much improved fighter and a champ but he will get dismantled against the Dagestani.
