In a cramped sunlit living room, a gathering of Dagestan family members are in morning prayers. Bowing and kneeling quietly, the spiritual solemnity of their sacred practice is a silent strength observed.

February 26th, 2022. In the octagon, a catchweight battle is underway between a focused Islam Makhachev and a confident Bobby Green. The first round starts cautiously then a powerful takedown by Islam. The grappling turns to wrestling as Green struggles to get free of Islam’s smothering hold on him. Islam works for a submission but can’t find the positioning. Sitting atop Bobby he starts pounding. He somehow gets Green onto his stomach looking for a choke possibility but it turns into a fierce ground and pound. Islam keeps hitting and hitting and hitting.
The fight is stopped before Green gets seriously damaged. First round technical knockout.

A drone wanders through the sharp, craggy mountains of Dagestan. Hanging off the side of a majestic mass of rock at an elevation of 2300 meters, the small huddled village of Burshi, population of a little over two hundred. Simple homes built of stone connected by rocky footpaths with emerald fields lying lazily below and children running from house to house, family dogs chasing after.

In a small ramshackle gym, a village elder is coaching a couple of ten-year-old boys in a makeshift boxing ring. An older teenager is hitting a speed bag with surety and over in a brightly lit corner, a young man is on a taped up heavy bag. A quiet place with only the sounds of leather hitting leather and bodies hitting bodies. A sense of purpose and a scene of poignancy high up in the bare North Caucasus mountains.

After watching your documentary, I think I know why I rooted so much for Khabib and Islam. They reminds me of some silat instructors, namely (Kang=big brother) Kang Yayan and Kang Cecep. They trained the young generation in the villages with silat so they can not only pass their teaching, also for improving students economy. These practicioners can be stuntperson, can be instructor, can be entertainment, and mostly for promoting Silat itself national and international. The instructors passes down their knowledge for their country and community, lifting up those who are below economy, and inspiring many people.

man they're so humble , theres nobody better than khabib might never will be stamina grapple strength defense u name it and he got it topped still sir abdul called his best friend his favourite student maybe cuz khabib liked to improvise rather than follow blindly. hands down islam was cocky at start but learnt a lot from khabib and experiences to stay grounded and smash the sky right from where he is.
Don't only hate him cause he's a Muslim and a Russian. Respect him for his skills and humbleness and now respect him cause he is the champ, by submission against charles Oliveira

They HAD a good chance against Charles, because Charles is EASILY hit and dropped --- partly due to his poor sight and partly due to his not moving his head and body, like Islam does. Charles isn't a next level wrestler like Islam, so other than the fear or being clinched up against and subbed standing, like Dustin, if Charles could maneuver to their backs, all three elite strikers had good chance of KOing Charles. Charles absorbs 3.18 significant strikes per minute. Islam absorbs 0.84 significant strike per minute... so, again, those pure strikers would do WORSE against the elite wrestler than they did against the elite BJJ who, again, is easily hit. On the mat, both Charles and Islam sub their opponents with a 43% probability, so again none of the elite strikers you've mentioned has any chance against Islam, as they didn't against Charles.
