No, the reason is his last fight was really close and many people believe volk won it. Not because he didnt finish Volk, a finish is not needed to show youre the better fighter at the fight night.

You're right what's even more wild tbh when I rewatched the first fight without any sound (did it purposefully to not let any commentary or crowd affect my personal "judgement") , islam pretty much won the entire fight up until the last minute and a half which clouded a lot of peoples judgements on the decision. The crowd and commentary was also a massive factor that effected peoples perception of scorecard. After rewatching it without sound, islam pretty clearly won 3 rounds by a mile. One of the rounds was close but imo islam should have still been awarded it because he controlled the clinches and was more aggressive, he just couldn't control volkanvski and keep him on the ground after the takedown, the striking was pretty even in that round so it made clear sense to me that islam should have gotten the round cause he won the other aspects. Ironically, the judge who scored it 49-46 was in my personal opinion the closest to being right. I personally think islam won 4 rounds but that being said I'm okay with people/judges who think he won 3. I'm actually someone who scored it for volkanski when I first watched it live cause I was influenced by the commentary, last 2 minutes of the fight , islam not being as dominant as usual, and finally, the crowd. Rewatching it without volume actually made me appreciate how amazing and dominant islam was in that fight until the final minute and a half. I mean for the people who think I'm being bias, consider rewatching it without volume, it really was an incredible technical display by Islam. I don't really see anyway volkanski can win other than a lucky punch or by surviving and waiting for islam to get gassed like the last fight. But its very clear from a styles matchup perspective volkanskis chances of winning are actually low (no offensive wrestling, who islam was countering pretty easily last fight)

@@abdennouro8375 yup people subconsciously hold him to khabib standards. There's an air of invincibility with khabib and his heir islam. So because he wasn't invincible and took damage in the final round, all of a sudden it was a close fight. Rewatching it objectively volkanvski was just surviving on the ground and getting back up without actually making any effective counter attacks. He was having very little success on the feet because of islams counter striking for 4.5 rounds. Still hats off to him because he was a dog and refusing to quit but from a technical and outcome perspective it wasn't actually close. It was only the final minute which islam (badly I must add, 30 more seconds and who knows what happens) lost that affected peoples perceptions of the fight. Islam and khabib are supposed to be perfect.
