Only a wrestler and grappler can fully appreciate this fight, that was brilliant. Islam has just too much experience in the wrestling department, tsarukyan has too but idk the fluidity of islam's movements is just better, never givin up position, utilizing tsarukyan's own pressure against him, theres levels to this

I'll tell you, master of sports is a title given to special athletes by the russian athletic commission, it is awarded when one athlete wins international competition and brings attention to the sport, tsarukyan is master of sports in mma and freestyle, islam is master of sports in combat sambo. 23 years old is pretty young in the game yet many many olympic level athletes like abdulrashid sadulaev have won gold medals at that age, jon jones won the ufc belt at 23 against shogun and went on to beat all those grown men you talkin about. I gave credit to tsarukyan, he's one hell of a fighter, like ridiculous level of grappling and wrestling, just islam is better, thats it.

Such an underrated fight! It was a dream matchup and fans just started to slowly realize that we had a super fight of two incredible wrestlers and we took it for granted.

Easily the best fight anyone has put up against him so far. Ground games were so good that they couldn’t take each other down and hold them there.

Gamrot-Arman came close too. LW is incredible.

I think Arman Tsarukyan has what it takes to be a long time champ, and dominate. His name will be etched in the record books. Regardless of if Islam wins against Oliveria, I believe he will eventually face Tsarukyan again and Gamrot once

@@funtv4920 i don’t think is at all. All BJJ fighters Islam faced he spent more time than usual standing and Charles is much better with a much more active guard. Even if Islam decides to make the most boring fight ever by just holding, he doesn’t have the gas tank to do that all rounds or to ground and pound aggressive non stop for the entire fight. The more a i think about the fight and the tools they have to beat each other the more it’s clear to me this is a really bad match up for Islam, that has so little tools to beat Charles with little to no variety. I think it’s pretty safe to say the much better MMA fighter will always have a lot more chances of winning an MMA fight.

@@IvanM272 If anyone can shut down Charles bbj it would be Islam if Islam lays on top of him it's a wrap Islam isn't like khabib that does g&p he is more of a finisher but Charles can catch him with a guillotine if Islam goes for a double leg so Islam is gonna have to find a better way to takedown Charles and when it comes to striking Charles can't fight Islam with Muay Thai stance being super aggressive like he did with one dimensional strikers(Dustin,Justin,Chandler)cause that's asking to be taken down so Charles Striking has to be limited, and Islam isn't the same when it came to striking when he got KO'ed his striking defense is high level now he also has KO power and Both fighter has Endurance to go 5 rounds with ease so as I said they are going to be each others hardest opponent they've ever faced.

This is one of those fights you show to people who say " grappling or wrestling are boring " , it was non stop scrambles and beautiful techniques for 15 minutes

Islam's endurance won him this match, crazy fight. Both are strong and great wrestlers, and strikers.

Crasy how they grapple so much that both of them took literally almost 0 damage lmao

Once u know the technical side of wrestling and how hard it is to do physically u start enjoying this so much. These guys are so so strong , the physical strength p4p is off the charts. Its a win win situation for them in mma , best and safest way to win the fights, no brain damage and absolutely triggers the casual fans, what more can u ask for.

This is or one of my 2 favorite Islam Makachev fights! Maybe not met his match … but most definitely very competitive. Tsarukyans last fight with Gamrot 😤🔥 what a clinic!! These lightweights are all super stars. But Islam sits at the top for me!

And Arman took this fight on a short notice had to cut weight after his wedding and not sufficient time to prepare but still gave a tought fight now just imagine high level wrestler like gamrot and even Arman and more would do now. First time islam faced adversity and his match. Just show islam and even khabib would be beatable with the right high level wrestlers.

Crazy to think that Gamrot could handle Tsarukyan in the grappling/wrestling departments

I thought Tsarukyan won his last fight against Gamrot. He outstruck him that's for sure. Gamrot did better in the grappling area though which is why they gave it to him. They should rematch instead of Gamrot facing Dariush.

Raman Tsarukyan is one of my favorite up and comers. He is one of many very talented fighters in that division but he’s also really young. The guys has a bright future

Tsrukyan is a beast but Islam just has the endurance to go full speed for 5 rounds without getting tired. I mean he literally wrestles khabib every day.

Mahkachev stance is Orthodox and it's hard for an opponent to get a takedown attacking that lead leg and most of Mahkachev's training clips show him only defending takedowns from an Orthodox stance. In some other training clip I've seen,his team talks about his right leg isn't as strong as the left do to his stance.

Tsarukyan gave some blue prints how to deal with dagestani wrestling. It's not just to defend but you gotta try to take them down and give them taste of their own medicine but you need to be very very skilled fighter

Make sure to have a ton of cardio as well because these guys are from mountains and that is why they have that kind of cardio to keep the pace till the end of rounds. That is straight up genetics there.

Give it a year or two until they run it back for the title 🔥

Good fight. Makachev was evenly matched. Tsarukyan did really well here but his performance against Gamrot was disappointing, thought he could have got it done easily.

Gamrot is one of the best grapplers in lw ever. Gamrot has insane strength, technique and cardio.

Mateusz Gamrot and Charles Oliveira are by far the wost opponents for Islam because they have excelent wrestling and better jiu-jitsu skills.

he and khabib are best buds. they have both trained under abdulmanap since early childhood as neighbors, and now khabib is islam’s coach/trainer

Arman is as good as Charles, and on the books, better equipped to challenge Makhachev. Him and Gamrot have been avoided by their peers like Makhachev was. Don't let the numbers on the rank fool you. Oliveira was also an up and coming name before the Tony fight. Any one of them will give him a better challenge than Justin or Dustin did. They're very well rounded. These boys will shape the new top 5 for the next few years.
