Isla Traquair: 'My Stalking Hell' | This Morning

Former ITV and Channel 5 news presenter, Isla Traquair, endured months of sleepless nights and panic attacks when her next door neighbour, Jonathan Barrett, became infatuated and obsessed with her. Stalking her daily, he would stare into her bedroom, loiter outside her house and stand on her wall to look through windows. But after months of inappropriate behaviour, last week Barrett was convicted of stalking. As he awaits his sentencing, Isla joins us in the studio to tell us about her ordeal.

Mental health problems don't cause stalking. Stalkers know exactly what they are doing. This woman is so brave.

Mental health problems definitely do cause stalking, but every situation is different. Some stalkers have more awareness of their actions than others. Some mental health issues cause distortions in perception which may help a stalker to justify their actions or believe that their actions are appropriate.

I agree about this but this is counscience and it goes for ANY crime We all have counscience even the bad or sick ones

How horrific, so disappointing to hear the way that police officer spoke to her too..

My sister was stalked by a guy at work, hid in her bushes and one night she came home and he was able to get into her back yard. She called me saying she could hear someone, my husband went to go check on her and when opening the back door he was standing at the sliding door. He was fired but that was extremely scary for her. Was a very bad time! She lived alone so I was always scared something would happen.

Isla your amazing for speaking out about this , i stay in West Lothian and have also been a victim of this with a neighbor who I met at a party back in 2007 he was obsessed with me I unknowingly moved across the road from him and it became a living nightmare, I’m now safe thankfully, keep moving forward these people will have there karma x

This is ridiculous. The victim is victimazed more because of the bureocracy of the system. The process must be faster. The offender must be send by court to mandatory mental evaluation, treatment if needed, jail time and financial compensation to the victim. The system just give a slap on the hand to the offender and that obviously does not work.
Why is it always Jonathan’s? 🤯
Where was the Police offerces ? Never help

I feel sorry for the poor lady, what that evil and creepy man was doing.
