Isiah Thomas (47pts/17asts) vs. Nuggets (1983)

Спорт

In a way this game is all what Isiah Thomas was about. He spends the start of the game involving others and racking up assists. But when the team is facing a loss down the stretch, he takes matters in his own hands and goes on a scoring tear. Which other point guard would be capable of grabbing the rebound and scoring in traffic to force OT like Isiah at 4:40? Not to mention the ballsy and clutch three he made at 5:35 (you have to acknowledge that he wasn't the best of three point shooters and this is still 1983, the three hadn't caught on popularity yet). December 13, 1983.

This man was cold. One of the best streak shooters of all-time. Once the bad boys started to form Zeke suppress his game for the half court style. Once they traded Tripucka and John Long that run n gun style that suited Zeke was gone. When games counted Zeke could do what he wanted and nobody stopped him. Not Magic,Bird,Dominique,Jordan,Drexler,NOBODY!

Marco Pecorino I say Pippen. He didn't deserve to be on the Dream Team I lineup. In his place, Dominique Wilkins and or James Worthy should've been in Pippen's place or maybe Mullin's place. I get that many fans say James Worthy was on the downside of his NBA career yet Larry Bird gets inducted to Dream Team I and he was also just as much as Worthy was winding down too, except Worthy could still play a couple more years while Bird can no longer handle the 82-game season grind.

Totally agree. Pippen was still a rising young star at the time, and not as accomplished as Dominique or Worthy. Pippen was chosen at Jordan's request and for his versatility. Laettner being there, was a silly stipulation (requiring one college star). Also Olajuwon, the best center at the time, wasn't on the team as he was not yet a US citizen.

Lol! Compared to today's Olay defense? No hand checking for about 25 years now and still the skill set of a lot of these players are limited. The Pro B-ball IQ on players was way higher in the 80s than what the league has now. It had to be - or you was not going to be in the league for long. The league has players now who come back year after year clearly having not worked on obvious weakness in their games & adding nothing to their skill set. In the 80s even the greats went about bringing something new to the table for the upcoming season. In 1987 you had the Goat Kareem at 40 years young adding 25 pounds of muscle to his frame- while lowering his body fat- so he get bang under the boards better against the youngsters like Pat Ewing, Hakeem, etc....and against seasoned all time greats like Moses Malone. You don't see that kind of dedication to the craft of b-ball in today's young players at all.
