When doin sprites, it's common to use a very dark color instead of pure black, sometimes it's purely an art thing, but sometimes because maybe the game handles pure black as something like transparent, color changing pixels or pixels that you can choose the color, stuff like that uwu

Not just sprites, but also LEDs. If you try to use a pure white LED in a set that uses RGB colors instead of YRGB(Y = Yellow) it will come off as a light blue hue, so your forced to screw around with the levels of Red, Green, Blue to make White.

the nicalis black actually leaves a red trail if your monitor has bad ghosting

I literally had to open up a paint program to tell the difference between black and nicalis black

The thing that i actually liked of the facts was the RIP Isaac moment

It's very common in spritework not to use pure black, you mainly use the main color of the sprite you are working with but with minimal brightness :)

When it come to pixel art actually I've noticed that outlines are actually not made purely black that often, most of the time it's a very dark version of the most prevalent color on the sprite itself

Juda's shadow looks like crying onion in pure black

Weird thing is, when I turned my brightness all the way up I could see a VERY SLIGHT difference in the two colors.

Yeah, tons of items and sprites have different colors that look exactly the same for some reason. For example, Isaac's tears's base color (on his sprite) is made up of 3 different colors. I HATE
