Is your "MEAT" contaminated?

I found contaminating fibers in vegan meat, and these could be microplastics.

Plenty of news stories recently on studies finding micro plastics in food, all food, not just vegan food. We are a walking natural disaster.

@@nightstormoutdoors6080Are… You stupid? The entire food chain is corrupted. It starts with the smallest microscopic life in the oceans, and it ends in us. It doesn't matter what it is, there WILL be microplastics, in everything. It's insane that people think like you, guess what, the water you drink? Plastics. The air you breathe? Plastics. The soil that grows the food used to feed the cows? Plastic. You wouldn't know that however because that requires a basic education that you clearly lack. This is from somebody who had a steak last night btw so fuck off with making it about meat eating.

Exactly, videos of meat and vegan meat show plastic and other crap in the food. It's not just one or the other so can't really use this as an argument for or against a certain diet. But it is a good demonstration of thr scary food system now. :(
"I took a small sample of the vegan meat along home" I imagine the conversation with the waiter went: "Did you enjoy your meal?" "Yes, it was spicy and tasted like chicken." "Would you like a doggy bag for the leftovers?" "No, thank you, I brought my own specimen bag."
Would be interesting to see you get some different varieties of soybeans/plants/meat and see if these fibers are there too.

Yes 100% this. I'm also kinda curious what a kombucha scoby looks like.

If the meat Is processed, yes, you will find them. In a steak probably not
I’m not vegan but I’m sure all our foods these days have things we don’t want in them. Right? The food in the US is so highly processed I think it’s why we all have cancer. I wish I had a microscope to see the amazing things you get to see. I just absolutely love everything about microbiology. I took anatomy and physiology in college and loved it. Biology in High School etc. Thanks for sharing

We can do our best to mitigate micro plastic exposure. Avoid processed foods and products, and of course avoid using plastic generally. I wish you luck, reduced the risk anyway you can.
It would be interesting to see how you analyze samples from other sources that might also have microplastic contamination in or on them.
Just because something is palatable doesn't mean it's food.
Sounds like you need to take the challenge. Build a series of comparisons under the same cond in the micro and start the search for UFOs. Unknown Food Objects. Sounds interesting and if it gets popular I bet you get some interesting interactions with various groups.
Great video and great information
When I was a boy, my dad had beef cattle. One year, we found buckshot in the ground beef. Despite the fact that we knew exactly what they ate and they were processed at a local slaughterhouse, there were still foreign bodies in the meat. I would be interested in comparing the vegan meat with ground chicken from the market, especially if it's packaged by a large producer, to see if any fibers or microplastics are there too. I'm a little leery of artificial meat myself, but it may be more of an issue with the process than the product.
Your vlog always brightens my day 😊
Considering the "meat" was so highly processed, perhaps it was contaminated later in preparing. Not the soy beans, but the paste, when they added many flavorings and batter.

I think the same way. There is lot of ingredients in this kind of food. Every one packed it it own plastic bag/ knitted big bag. I found this kind of plastic on my badly prepared base-glasses too and of course in the room dust :).
Recent article in The Guardian says that the average person eats 44 lbs of plastic in a lifetime.
As a vegan, I actually decided to phase out ultra processed food after watching a documentary about it. It feels better to use 'real' food like lentils and beans instead of vegan meat
I wonder if, at the factory where this is made, people are wiping off tables and surfaces with little wipes made out of microfiber. I absolutely hate using microfiber towels in the workplace. I grew up using 100% cotton towels and 100% cotton mops for mopping the floor. Cotton mops absorb a lot of water, and the synthetic fiber mops hold hardly any water at all. The synthetic mops and synthetic cloth wipes are frustrating and annoying to use. I'm guessing they were trying as hard as they can to be 'sanitary' and sanitizing all their tables and work surfaces with these horrible wipes, thinking that they're killing germs, while contaminating everything with little bits of non-biodegradable wipes at the same time.
Please do this test with some various flours. It would be interesting to see if you can find synthetic fibre in wheat/other grain products.
You didn't stick it in a jacket pocket prior to the specimen container right? 😆 LOL just kidding, the fact that you found that many synthetic fibers in a single(?) sample seems absolutely crazy I wasn't going to eat that in the first place, but definitely not now! btw: Thanks for what you do, I've been watching you for a while and thanks to your videos I can now identify many, many more things under my scope that I could not have figured out without a ton of research. :)
it's possible that they make this vegan meat themselves, and that there's wheat gluten in there, and when they process it they may wrap it in a towel😮 .... or if they clean out their bowls and stuff with towels that plastic could be in other food so I would suggest you check the restaurant order some different stuff and see if you come up with the same thing if you're not going to say a specific brand of vegan meat. you could be fear-mongering without intentionally doing it

That towel theory sounds quite plausible to me. I was also thinking that the beans could have been collected to some sacks, which could leave fibers behind. I went to look some videos of soybean fields, but then I realized that this maybe is not my job to figure this mystery out. 😅

@@MrSorbias man I completely understand because you are passionate like me! .... I've been a vegan for 6 and 1/2 years because of health reasons and I don't have anything against people eating meat.... but vegans are very concerned so I would be surprised if it was a mainstream brand with synthetic fibers... but then again who can we trust really... I appreciate you and thank you for doing what you do and sharing. I look forward to getting a microscope one day again
What would be a good microscope to get into?
this could be food.

I guess the worst thing that can happen cleaning out or looking through the refrigerator is to come across… something… that you cannot identify… at all. You literally do not know what it is. It could be meat, it could be cake. Usually at a time like that I’ll bluff. Honey, is this good? Well, what is it? I don’t know. I’ve never seen anything like it. It looks like meat-cake. Well, smell it. Actually, it has no smell whatsoever. It’s good, put it back. Somebody is saving it. It’ll turn up in something. That’s what frightens me. --George Carlin
Cool look at the plant cells that were in it! Most of them were probably processed out :( I feel like most things we eat have little tiny fibers and microplastics in them now, from the meats to the plants. Better than lead poisoning? So far it probably has been, but we'll keep on finding out more
carbon nanotubes!
Oh well, at least it doesn’t contain Soylent Green. Thank you for your diligent work.
Fiber is good. cloth is also made from plants .
This video highlights the importance of understanding what goes into vegan meat products. Come check me out for more eye-opening info on plant-based living!
Cancer meat?
Carbon is good. The more the better
I like your title so much! But even if you swallow few grams of textile and micro plastic... It won't hurt you. It will just pass up to your toilet.... It's fiber!
O___O
Pretty disturbing to have “food” consisting of unrecognizable material
