It's so annoying when they go by LMP because my cycle is regular, but it's 32 days. It hasn't always been regular though, where's my first pregnancy I was ovulation testing and I didn't ovulate until 6 weeks after my last period so on all of the paperwork it was really frustrating that they wrote inaccurate last menstrual period but that's not correct I was very accurate I just didn't fit into their perfect box of normal

I get the feeling I won't fit in the box either :( I ovulate late in my cycles.

I consider my cycles "normal" whenever they come within two months of the last. Usually it'd be 35-50 days but could be more or less. The longest I've gone is 6+ months. My blood pressure rises whenever a nurse asks me for my LMP and then ask if I could be pregnant just because I didn't have a period within the last month or two. It feels like they don't recognize that not everyone has periods every month. And when I'm pregnant, it bugs me when they ask me for LMP and then judge me for not coming in sooner. Like dude, my LMP may have been 3 months ago, but I know for a fact that I conceived just a few weeks ago.

I loved this! Thank you. Helped me understand why they didn't change my due date even though there was a difference between my LMP and first ultrasound. (They calculated a 6 day difference).

Both due dates based off of my LMP were wrong and going off of ovulation and possible implantation was so much more accurate Especially that my periods are just so light and irregular

I mean..they call it an ” Estimated Due Date” for a reason.

Not only did I accidentally give my doctor the wrong date of my LMP but she also realized my ultrasound still didn’t match the correct date. She’s pretty sure I ovulated late!

This isn’t related to due dates but I recently had a baby girl via C section. I was wondering if me getting an epidural prevented baby girl from moving down? My water broke and had meconium in it. I was induced and the contractions came strong and fast but after 8 hours she hadn’t moved down at all and I was still only 1cm dilated. (This is when I got the epidural) after 24 hours total I finally dilated fully but she had only moved to Stage 2 and I had to have a c section. Could this have been prevented by not getting an epidural? If I didn’t get an epidural would she have moved down?

Would it be more accurate if you know the actual conception date

I hate this. LMP is so inaccurate. I get that they didn't have better methods in the pre-ultrasound days, but now that they have better technology, you would have thought they'd get rid of that ridiculous dating method. It makes calculations so much harder. Like, for my IVF pregnancy, I had to count that I was 2 weeks and 5 days at the time of transfer. 5 days I get because the embryo was literally 5 days old when it was frozen and transferred, but the randomly added 2 weeks is just ridiculous. Same with non-assisted conception. I'd have to count BACK to date each pregnancy because it's so much more reliable to track ovulation than it is to track periods.
